Bleachigo linked this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131792 which looked pretty good to me. Also I've added the Crucial 64gb M4 SSD to my wish list for when I have some extra cash in the future biggrin.gif

lol, where have you been dude?

the 2500k has Unlocked multiplier, while the 950 you suggested doesn't. He just needs a CPU that games, so HT is not needed.

Get an AsRock Extreme 3 Gen 3 while you're at it.

You don't need an SSD. If you're tight on budget, keep the old 7200RPM drive and play on.

6870 would play BF3 at High/Ultra mixed settings

He's a generation behind the 2500k!

@ Iscaria - I think your system will be fine. BTW what kind of PSU do you have?

The RAM I picked out is the G. Skiill Ripjaws DDR3 1866. How is the performance boost between 1866 and 2133? Worth the extra cash?

Well, after listening to your guys' advice and doing further research here is my tentative final build:

CPU : Intel i5 2500k Quad Core ~$230
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V / Gen 3 ~$180
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131792

Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ~$40
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Timing 8-8-8-24 ~$75
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231445

For a grand total of ~$525 plus S&H. I decided to go with the 1600 ram rather than the 1866 because my research said that the performance increase was negligible and also this model has nice timing, 8-8-8-24, compared to the timing of the 1866 model I picked out, 9-10-9-28. If this isn't a good idea someone please let me know lol.

So, last call. Anymore advice before I hit "add to cart"?

My last advice:

Hit the add to cart button

You're ready to go!

The only thing that's bothering me is the PSU, I've never heard anything about that PSU before.

Everything looks good; You could save a couple bucks going for the 212+ rather than the evo or the Corsair A50. And I would recommend a PSU upgrade soon
