Which Game Keypad?

Has anyone tried some of this game keypad devices that only offer as much buttons as necessary? I'm looking to decide which of the following is the best for me. Let me just clarify that it is only intended for FPS, no RTS/MMO.

Saitek Cyborg Command Unit

400

Belkin N52TE

330

Logitech G13

500

Wolfking

300

There may also be others I am not aware of, or just forgot to mention. From the ones mentioned here, I am between the first 2 but i just cant decide. The Belkin lookd more neat and possibly more comfy but it looks the 4 Function Buttons. What do you guys have to say about all this? Would you please help me make the right decision here?

I have been wanting the Logitech G13 for a while, I want for my WoW key bindings

I've used both the N52-TE and the Logitech G13. The Logitech has more buttons, but many are hard to press without having to lift your hand off the "home row" which feels sloppy to me. G7 and G1 specifically are very hard to reach for me without lifting. The N52 had better "feeling" buttons to me. They felt more tactile and more sturdy. The N52 however may not have quite enough buttons for you. I assigned a "shift" button onto my mouse so I could use the N52 and it killed. The N52's adjustable wrist wrest also felt MUCH better then the Logitech. The Dpad and the "Space bar" on the N52 was also MUCH better then the Logitech.

N52Te is pretty damn awesome. Though it's not made any more, razer still makes their branded version (it's the same device).

I used the N52TE for both FPS and RPG for a long time. The DPAD is ideal for switching weapons with your thumb, it is also ideal for binding spells. By using shift modifier or ctrl modifier you can end up having quite a lot of binds. My biggest gripe with it was the poor responsiveness of the space bar key which made it terrible for jumping.

In the end I ditched my one for a mechanical keyboard as the keys on the n52te is a bit crappy. If they ever remake this with mechanical keys, id give it another try.

What's all the fuss with this mechanical keyboards I've been hearing? Are they that much better? Cant someone hardmod it into using mechanical keyboards?

Also what this fingerprin button, and the buttons above and below the D-Pad?

And if you need escape, quickload, quicksave you need to press them on a normal keyboard?

It's like the same thinking as the need for a sound card, you don't really know what you're missing until you own one. Same goes for mechanical keyboards. Everyone will have their own preference and just reading about them on these forums will give you an idea on why these keyboards have such a following. The responsiveness to the overall feeling is better and depending on what type of switch you pick (MX Cherrys) will detirmine overall tactile-ness. I own a Ducky w/ MX Blues for work and a Ducky Shine w/ MX Black switches for home.

Keypads are nice for certain games that require a limited number of keys. I own the Belkin N52TE the the button above the D-PAD can be anything you want (i normally use it for G). I end up making the top left as my "escape" since I use it frequently to load/save/exit etc - and yes if you do need other keys obviously your keyboard will be needed.

One more thing. Are these products discontinued, or just hard to find? Cause i remember when the N52TE had 42Euros locally, and now i get it for 68 Euros from eBay. Are they capitilizing from lack of production?

Yes. The N52TE is discontinued. However, the Razer Nostromo IS the N52TE so it's likely that all sales of it just got changed to the name Nostromo due to Razer's better marketting.

Hmm? I was under the impression that Razer patented it as a product, and Belkin acquired it later. Was it just the opposite? So Razer Nostromo N52TE is still out there as we speak?
