# (Solved) Disconnected constantly from BF3 if roommate joins same or different server - Page 2

Had issue in BC2, had to launch with a different client port option in steam.

You may just have to disable uPNP if the above doesnt work.

I know back in the days of Counter-Strike and Team Fortress Classic this happened and it was because both players were on the same external IP address. The way to fix it in those games was to set it so one of the computers was using a different port for multi-player than the other (which was accomplished via the configuration files for the game). Kind of doubt this is the same problem, but worth checking out if this is possible in BF3 I suppose....

Might be worth setting BF3 to a specific port on each PC.

As an example:

Computer A = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\bf3.exe -port 10000"

Computer B = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\bf3.exe -port 10001"

Just add -port xxxxx to the end of the BF3 executable and set them to a number in the range of ports that you opened.

Edit: Slight ninja by Wildcard36qs, believe you can do it his way in the registry or do it my way on the .exe. Give it a try either way and see if it helps out.

Well, we had the same issues without any of the ports forwarded, so I don't think that would actually be the problem. The only reason I had seen any alleviation to the disconnects is because my roommate became obsessed with SWTOR, lol. I'll try disabling it anyways, and play around to see if I can get it to work without the port forward. Thanks! +rep

So you have an ISP and an apt or whatever with your buddy right?
I think it's possible to have two routers and two separate IP's. I THINK.

Have you tried putting your or your roommate on the DMZ? There is a fix to this problem I can tell you that much. When I was younger my buddy would bring his rig over to the folk's house and we would play CSS and other junk. Occasionally we could get "multiple requests same ip yada yada".

I'm trying to figure out how we fixed that last time.

I'd assume the severs should just see

Player 1: 192.168.1.1:8080
Player 2: 192.168.1.1:9090

Do you have a switch at your disposal? If so try just using the switch and tossing the router for the time being and see if that replicates the issue.

Yea I am unsure if that works for the executable. I know that is what i did for BC2, but that was steam.

Thanks! This method worked like a charm. I've been able to connect over and over without one of us disconnecting the other. +rep!

Thank you for the help, but the registry method worked great. +rep for the great advice and taking the time to help

Fixed, and I really didn't want to stop using the router, as I have 2 ps3s, 2 computers, and an HTPC running off it; also I did not have a switch at my disposal, sadly. But thanks for the help anyways! +rep
