They say that certain bearings are better for certain positioning, but I've found it has more to do with the brand/model. Rifle is supposed to be good for horizontal, and sleeve not so good, but my Scythe sleeve bearing fans mount horizontally without issue and my crappy NZXT 140mm rifle bearing fan rattles when horizontal.

I'm totally obsessive about fan noise. It's a sickness.

the quality does have much to do with it, but also the speed at which you have it at, imo 120mm non ball bearing or i guess the new hydro bearing fans under 1500~ are relatively okay and won't rattle, but once you get higher than that you will start to feel it more in the case and hear it
