Overclocking my AMD FX-6100 - Page 2

Yeah, I've tried that. Do you think I might have a faulty CPU? I just bought it a week ago so hopefully Microcenter will take it back.

Darshe: You need to up the voltage on your ram to 1.65v, or lower the speed in the mean time while you OC your cpu.

Also FX chips love the reference clock not the multiplier. I'd try bumping up your reference clock (cpu frequency on your bios) to 250, and lowering your multiplier to 17.

I have the same baord and CPU and am having the same "issue" with multiplier changing on the fly.
The ram doesnt affect this. I finnaly gopt my ram to run at 1600mhz intsead of 1333 with the 1.65 volts.
But the random speed changes remain.

Also If you are having issues with Ram speeds make sure you have correct numbers.
Check the website for non Intel settings, they dont put the right timings on the chips.
That was my issue. Had to up the final number from 27 to 29 and voltage. No mention of the final latency untill I found a spec sheet on website.

Lemme know if you discover the right setting.

Hi I am building a amd fx-6100 rig with g-skill ram, a 860watt single rail power supply, and corsair H100 water cooler and asrocks motherboard. Just finalizing the parts list with the store before I order one.

I would like some information about over clocking the rig, I was hoping to emulate the 6200 with the turbo ram but am now thinking of upping it a notch to say 4ghz and 4.4 turbo. Is this possible and whats a good combination for mild overclocking do not want to go to extreem. Planning on getting the fx-8300 next January when income tax comes in.

I'm trying to help out someone else who's having problems with an M5A97 Pro motherboard and can't get it to 4.0 without high voltage on the cpu. With my 990FX fatal1ty pro mb I didn't need to hit 1.5V till I got it up to 4.8. I'm thinking that either there's a setting in the bios we're all overlooking or there's a problem with the 970 chipset and the FX chips.

Sorry for bumping this thread up but you need to disable LLC (Load Line Calibration), had the same issue like here that the speeds are going up and down. After disabling this mine constantly runs at 4,3Ghz. Mine does 4,3Ghz @1,325v anyone who even needs less voltage to run stable? I'm still thinking of watercooling it but I dont know if it's worth the money and if my asrock 990fx extreme3 can handle speeds near 5ghz:D

I have the m5a97 as well ive managed 4.2 ghz with my fx 6100 by increasing fsb and vcore only. My fsb is 252 cpu voltege is 1.3 v idols @25c games at 35c. That was achived on the 970 chipset like yours.
