A Quick update + plans.

So I drew up a small schematic diagram and aerial views of the opening mechanisms of the front doors.

img081o.jpg

Okay I'll explain what they are.
The 2 pictures on the right are the aerials (yea ofcourse...) and they show where the hinge placements will be and how the front doors will open to grant access to the components inside.
The 'Roof' of the Motherboard compartment will be ATTACHED to the movable bit, I think this will grant ease of access to the motherboard and I will not cut my hands in 30 different places every time I want to exchange some hardware or clean my waterblocks.

On the other hand, the top panel of the COOLING compartment will be permanantly attached to the main structure, which is represented in RED. While the movable parts are represented in BLUE.

There will be fans and some components such as Fan controllers and monitoring devices which will be attached to the opening sidepanels.
The picture on the left is just my impression of the final product, except with crappy detail.
It was just to show how the motherboard compartment will be smaller than the Cooling compartment.

So yeah, cheers guys.

And also, something else to look at....
When I first planned this case mod this was what I thought it would be like with a different Case Mod name tongue.gif

img071i.jpg

A little overkill now that I think about it hahaha wink.gif

Subbed! Never seen anything like it. I will definitely be tuned in to this. Makes me want to spend the winter months modding something of my own...as I look around the room at my mini fridge thinking ingeniously. thumb.gif

Thankyou very much sir! biggrin.gif Yeah I'm trying to make this mod as unique as possible tongue.gif
I've got to say though I'm getting inspired by the Thermaltake Level 10 case.

But the good thing is; you guys can overclock with great temperatures all year round!

Update 3

Hey guys!
Because of the horrible weather keeping me in (yes I don't get 1.5ft deep snow blah blah tongue.gif ) It's impossible for me to do any kind of cutting and power tool use in the wet weather outside.

So here we go with more plans and mock set-ups.

Now I introduced the brass plated hinges I purchased from Bunnings Warehouse a while ago and now I'll show you why I am using them.

Plans and all the stuff.

img1454e.jpg

Opening!

img1455nd.jpg

The hinges and the screws which I won't really be using.

img1456bq.jpg

img1457qm.jpg

2 panels of spare plywood:

img1458le.jpg

How it attaches:

img1459a.jpg

img1460i.jpg

With the revolving panel "shut" and on the hinge:

img1462x.jpg

Side-on view:

img1463yn.jpg

Since an average door in the house requires 2 hinges to support it, it's logical to think that a single hingle would support a plywood panel approximately 500mm x 400mm thick, so if you guys scroll up to take a look at the diagram I made,
(Or for the lazy people just look down)

img1463yn.jpg

The diagrams on the right show revolving parts, one bent 90 degrees and the other a straight panel. These are like the 'sidepanels' to access to the components inside.

So yep that's it for this update.

Stay tuned for more!

I've finalised a theme for "Annexed", which is deep orange biggrin.gif

Some picture samples to get you in the mood of it:

I think it suits well with my Cougar Vortex Fans:

Also, I'm not actually going to paint the ENTIRE panels of Plywood orange, I will be adding accents and stripes of it in certain areas.

Cheers guys thumb.gif

Plywood has a nasty habit of bending out of shape if you leave it out for too loing so I'd better get this rolling along quickly thumb.gif
