No unified shaders! *cries*

Nvidia’s code-named G80 graphics processing unit (GPU) will incorporate 48 pixel shader processors and an unknown number of vertex shader processors, some unofficial sources said. The chip is still expected to support feature-set of DirectX 10 along with Shader Model 4.0, even though it will not take advantage of the unified shader processors that can compute both pixel and vertex shaders.
Why oh why? Lets hope they can at least HDR + AA.

hmmmm dissapointing to say the least

is it just me or does nvidia act like old intel ? going for just raw power

while ati is like amd, going for the highly optimised route ?

hmmmm (ponders)

Well, ATI used to be the card of enthusiasts. I can't help feeling nVidia is going a bit mainstream with thier conusmer market (ie. people who buy computers that say "Extreme Gaming Performance" bit have a 7300LE).

I think that ATI is far more mainstream than nVidia. Not that it's a bad thing, but every time I walk into Fry's or Best Buy I see mainly ATi cards on (leaving) the shelves. It seems like the inexperienced consumer likes ATi more. Maybe it's the packaging... Studies have proven that an item that has the color red on it's packaging will sell better than any other color.

Either Nvidia is correct or they are lying through their teeth. Short of it for me is, my next generation DX10 card will be an ATI.

Yeah, ATI is waiting for a reason though. I guess they want to be on top once again. I hope they adopt heatpipe technology lik the GTX though. If nvidia's cards can do HDR though, I might just go for them. That is SM4 HDR of course .
