Computer Booting Problem

Thread Starter
hi guys

got a clients computer that will not boot at all

the story i got was that the client unplugged a ps2 keyboard while the computer was still on and then reconnected it again, when he did this, the computer just switched off.

Now when i turns on the computer, nothing shows up on the monitor (onboard vga) no beeps at all, and will not turn off unless disconnected from wall

the keyboard was a old style of keyboard that was using a special ps2 adapter, that was basically destroyed because somehow the pins were broken out of the adapter and stuck onto the splug (had to remove the broken adapter with a pair of pliers) but i plugged in the comp using my keyboard, mouse and monitor and still nothing wants to happen

it does not want to do anything at all, just sit there, wont let you turn it off once you have turned it on, you have to turn it off at the wall, i think it might be the mobo but im open to suggestions and hopefully solutions to fix this problem

any suggestions on what it could be

I am going to bet that somehow the keyboard shorted the mobo. Use the parts in a different mobo, see if they work. If they all function properly it is the mobo, or HD. Which would need replacing.

My guess is that it is a shorted connection taking the motherboard out of action.
