yep you should put an AV on it, IIRC you were using pfsense which has a sw fw. so you can actaully write rules to close ports in the DMZ.. oh did the DMZ idea work??
alot home users and companies put like webservers, public email servers and so forth in the DMZ, usally this is a DMZ that is a port on a HW FW but shouldnt make much difference if its on the router.
i failed to mention that i machine as its exposed to the net connect via a DMZ is safe aslong as you dont have any important stuff on there.. just have an AV and scan regulay and store your BT files you want publically available
