Great article.
Skyrim shreds CPU's.

Sorry but I just love this chart.
Hyperthreading chips get 3-5 more FPS as well...kind of interesting.

Can't wait to see what the IT industry is like when the console generation goes into the workforce. I already deal with "Sys Admins" and "Network Admins" on a daily basis who are clueless on basic PC / Server functionality.

I can see it in an interview --
Describe your networking experience --- "uhhh, I hooked my 360 up to a linksys router over wireless"
If your server goes down due to hardware failure how do you troubleshoot it? "check for a RROD and probably just buy a new one?"

The only reason Skyrim has been using a lot of CPU power is that it was compiled very poorly (fixed in 1.4) and it uses the CPU for tasks that a GPU could handle better (but the decision is mostly due to the limitations of a console's GPU).

The longer the wait for the new console the more gamers will turn to the PC. If and when Sony and MS take a new console out, people will already have invested in their PC's. I use to be a console gamer back in 2005, I've since dropped them and never looked back. I'm not about to buy the newest console either as it'd be a waste of my money. Pretty sure people who'll buy new PC's are going to think the same way.

If I could wish for one thing, it'd be that Sony and MS bring their new respective consoles out mid 2013.

Dolphin killed the Wii, and bad games killed the PS3/360. I only own like 5 Xbox 360 games, my Steam account has over 100.

There were quite a few LOLwut moments in that article. Like when he mentioned Carmack saying that the PC would no longer be the lead platform, he didn't follow that up with his retraction from QuakeCon and of course the KOTOR line. Even mentioning Skyrim is kind of LOL, since we all know that it doesn't take a Falcon system to run that at all.

It doesn't require but it can utilize one.

it's lolworthy because it's not knights of the old republic, that was the game that came out years ago. this is just star wars: the old republic.

True, but the Falcon guy seems to infer that you need a uber powerful system to play it at highest settings, like it was designed that way. We all know that's crap, it was poor coding/compiling that required it to run so poorly. He also says this little gem; 'And I don’t just mean DirectX 11 support, for which the flood of titles utilizing it has already arrived,”

I mean for serious, pretty sure I can count the number of DX11 games on less than 1 hand, maybe 2. I'm not saying I don't want to see PC gaming reign again, I just think this article was fishing for hits. The author uses those slides from Nvida, which we know are skewed.
