Hey guys, I've just built my first ever fully owned rig over the weekend and wanted to share with you guys my build. smile.gif

Over the past few months, I've been deciding on the components that I wanted to get, and I think this forum has been one of the most helpful ones I've come across. thumb.gif

I instantly fell in love with the Phantom 410, and have been waiting almost a month for the distributor to bring this is in. I do have to say that most of the rigs I've seen here are really amazing. I doubt I can ever reach that stage with all the water cooling and mods that you guys have done but I guess I'll have to take it slowly... biggrin.gif

I'm still pretty new to all this, have been trying to overclock a little (first time ever) but so far only manage to stablize it at 4.4ghz at 1.8v. I only have the stock fans atm, which is one 120mm in the front, the 140mm up top, and a 120mm exhaust. Am thinking that's probably the reason I can't touch 4.5ghz (Temps almost 100 degrees using LinX or Prime at 1.2V)

Anyway my rig still isn't really complete yet, still waiting on my OCZ Vertex 3 240gb and maybe thinking of getting a couple of Noctua NF-F12's for my Hyper 212 Evo. But am pretty satisfied with what I have so far. Any comments and advice on how to improve my rig is much appreciated. typer.gif

has anyone tested a hyper 212 evo or similar cooler mounted pointing the exhaust upwards towards the top case exhaust (vertically) vs the normal horizontal positioning?

Or...does that only work with some coolers? I saw a test with a NZXT fan that performed lackluster until it was aimed upward, then it did great....

hey mate nice rig, as im sure youve seen if your not using the hdd cage get rid of it! increases the airflow alot better...if your looking to OC than an air cooler will do very little (depending on how hard your pushing) might be worthwhile looking at watercooling down the track to keep temps down as 100 degrees is cpu killing...oh and cable management is key to any good rig build...welcome to the club!thumb.gif

had this setup originally going vertically and found only a 1 or 2 degree drop in temp when i changed to horizontal...so no major change. It does free up the 4th dimm slot for ram if your only running 1 120mm fan on it obviouslly running 2 covers that slot again.

Thanks Moffat! I have already taken out the HDD cage but thanks for the feedback. I still haven't decided how hard I want to push in terms of OCing, but how high a clockspeed can i practically achieve without WC? My budget has already been blown with the amount of investment I've done on my hardware, so maybe upgrading myself to WC might only be somewhere in the future. guiltysmiley.gif

Anyway, If I do get 2 fans on my hyper 212, will I be able to achieve 4.6-4.7 range? Also, is the stock 120mm fan in the front sufficient enough for intake? I think I've seen ppl mention that a 140mm fan in front is better than 2 120's. Any thoughts?

so which way was cooler? fans pushing air out the back, or fans pushing air out the top? got kinda confused there, and I'm tired.

I have one recommendation you put the CPU power cord through the hole on the upper left side
