100% agree...the corsair kits aren't a huge diff in cooling than a standard air cooler anyway. plus the rasa kit looks awesome biggrin.gif

16gb of ram and your using auto-cad....i'd be looking at 32gb of ram personally but than again i never know when enough is enough biggrin.gif...

The hyper 212 evo would be more than fine, please dont think speeding alot on a cpu FAN cooler is going to get you better temps as it may only make 1-2 degrees diff if at all. Just be mindfull of the hyper 212's size as on my gigabyte 990fx board the 4th dim slot is rendered useless due to the 120mm off the cooler covering it. BTW an early welcome to the club!thumb.gif

I second the Hyper 212 Evo vote, althought the Havik could look great in the case too. Google for pics of that, but here's my hyper 212 evo on the 3770k on an ASUS motherboard. My temps max at 71 celcius on a 4.2gHz overclock, I imagine I could go a little higher or reapply the thermal compound for better temps, but I'm satisfied, and the cooler was very inexpensive.

Cheap, safe (no water), and effective.

Here it is in push and pull configurations, so you can see clearance on a p8z77v-pro motherboard, for comparison purposes.

Part of my interest in the darknight is the fact that I like the look. But I'll look into the evo and havik. The evo fits? From what I read it seems it would be sligjtly to big. Did you have to do anything to make it fit or does it just work?

What did you read about the evo not fitting? Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo? I have an intel board and the Phantom 410 case, and it fits just fine in all respects. perhaps tall heatsink ram would hit the fan case, but in that situation i'd just run it in pull; there wasn't much change in temps for me, if any, and based on one test I read, it might even run cooler (few tests out there, I can link if you want the one I've referred to, just gotta find it).

Here's a review on the one you mention I think? double check: http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2693&page=5

compare it to the 212 evo a little below, looks like it's one degree hotter, give or take. not much different, but it's also considerably louder than the evo, so consider that as well. I'm not certain how much real-world difference there is between 47 and 53 dBA, though.

Both look like they are probably good coolers though, check out review sites that test multiple coolers and see how they do in controlled environments.

It fits in mine too! It does block one of the ram slots due to the huge heat spreaders on it, but I bent the RAM heat spreader a little and it fits now biggrin.gif . Got my i7 2700K up to 4.6Ghz with temps around 75C.

This is why you don't look at specks when tired, you don't read them right.

Can the Phantom 410 fit a H100/H100i or will I have to stick with the H80/H80i?

Of course, you will have to take out your motherboard to install the Rad and Fans but yes. Look at mine. Corsair H100i installed Phantom 410:thumb:
