Initial thought about a BMW build would be... sleek, minimalist design, monotone or two-tone black/white based colors, elegant, fine leather, and minimal/soft lights . smile.gif
Be nice if every once in a while before criticising you would actually read descriptions people. The paragraph above it does state the build is a work in progress that is only about 20-30% done. thumb.gif

my bad mistake. redface.gif
reading is tech. blushsmiley.gif

I don't see the point of asking for criticisms then if you say it's a work in progress though. tongue.gif

Was so close to getting a H80i, but in the last minute I decided to get a H100i purely because of the looks. The H80i on the side seriously looks 'yuck' to me and I have no budget really, although I aim for value. Should be arriving tomorrow, if quickly ordering while i'm sitting in a lecture worked that is tongue.gif

Anybody have any other ideas what would look the part? Not too sure myself yet whether to paint it or not..
Ah yeah! It looks great as is, it would be hard to actually think of a new paint job because if it doesn't look good then it's wasted time and paint thinner. Do you know anything about Plasti-Dip? Look into it some if not friend. biggrin.gif

black white trim would match evga gtx 680 signature and fans of H80/H100i because those are white and black also, but i dont think power led will look good into that white trim, plus when turn blue led, white trim on components will turn into blue, not matching white trim color anymore.

Gun metal is mostly dark and power led will look good on black trim, but grey grey not sure if is a elegant color.

All black looks very clean, leds looks much more and would match with all black components, GTX 680 signature even when has white trim also, blue leds will turn it to blue, however not sure if all black with black trim is a bit boring
.
All black is always good to me wink.gif

Hello.

This is my first time posting and i have a small question. Maybe it has already been answered but the thread is over 400 pages.

I built my first computer a couple months ago for school and gaming. Im currently using solidworks for 3D part modelling, simulation and rendering but while rendering I get a warning my cpu is reaching 70deg C on the stock cpu cooler.

I wanted to get it lower before i start doing more complicated rendering and simulations so I am currently looking at getting a Hyper 212 evo but am unsure if it will fit in my case because I hear that lots of people have problems with the 212 evo not fitting over the ram slots.

Right now i have a red NZXT phantom 410 with a ASUS P8Z77-V and G.SKILL Ripjaws X ram. Does anyone have the same combination or information if the 212 evo will fit.

Thanks.

I love this case. I have an ASUS P8Z77-V motherboard. Would you suggest I connect the fans that came with the case directly to the motherboard so that I can use the built-in ASUS software to controll my fans instead of the factory one? I think this will give me more control since the built in fan controller on the 410 only allows me to have 3 options, low, med, high.

If so, will the fans plug up perfectly onto my motherboard? I believe my motherboard are 4 pins for the fans. Not sure how many pins are the NZXT fans. I'd love to be able to monitor them and have much more control using ASUS's FanXpert app.

It just really depends, if you don't mind reaching up when you are on full load to change the settings then it doesn't really matter but since you want to have more fan control you should probably go ahead and use the on board fan connectors. The only problem that I have with the Fan Xpert is that when you add another fan or take one out, when you go to run the wizard again it will show different settings for some fans.

I have all the exact same fans, sometimes when running the wizard again, it will only 2 fans to only go as low as 900rpm while all the others are 500rpm. It won't let me change it at all but I only use it to setup the fans initially for certain temps, I usually just go into the bios and set the fans to 400rpm or so and I'm okay with that xD Works out for me. Hope this helps.

Welcome to OCN as well

Welcome to OCN then. xD
The Evo 212 will fit in this case and I believe with your motherboard you will only be able to use 2 ram slots but I cannot confirm this since I don't have the EVO but that is what most people do unless you have low profile ram then you should be good. That is in most cases with the EVO but hopefully someone else will be able to clear that information up for you since I have the 100i. 70c is find though, on the stock cooler it is a little stressful but it's still fine. If you have 2 sticks of ram then you should be good. Ah! I'm doing it again, I will let someone else confirm everything for you. I"m sorry that I couldn't help, this is a very active group and the EVO is very popular xD

EDIT:

I just seen your specs in your sig, you might be more comfortable with buying 16gb of low profile ram since you are rendering, I don't know why I didn't see that before, of course you don't have to but it would help your rendering processes since you have an i7 xD

If you decide to upgrade check out the Samsung Wonder Ram if you like

iwalkwiththedead, thanks. I think I'll just stick with using the built-in fan controller then.

Yes, right now i am only using 2x 4gb. When I was building my pc I didn't pay attention to the height of my ram. Ill have to take a look at this Samsung Wonder Ram. I was also looking at the H100i but money is tight.
