Thread Starter
yeah so i have a slight stutter when playing games, its actualy not all games but alot, games like dragon age 2, the first templar, skyrim, the witcher 2, they all have a slight stutter, in dragon age 2 it allways drops a couple of fps wen it does it, skyrim its usualy when loading new areas, the witcher 2 is just awfull, fps is fine allways 50 or above. im lot ive tried alot, i dont usualy get it in fps games for some reason, like fear3 is fine.weird, crysis 1 seems fine too

gpu:hd 6950 2gb
cpu:i5 2400 non k sandybridge 3.10ghz
mobo:p8z68-v non pro
ram:ripjaw 4gb 1.5volts and another 4gb set at 1.65 volts thses rams have the same settings in pretty much everything execp voltage
psu:corsair cx600 watt
windows 7 64
ssd:m4 crucail 60gb

what are the main culprats that would cause stutter if it was hardware? this is a brand new system i built myself, i am very new too building pc this was my first.

Sounds like a driver issue to me. Are you running the latest 12.1 preview drivers for your graphics card? I would suggest installing those or if you already have them installed try re installing them.

If the driver solution doesn't fix things consider disabling or reducing AA if you're running it.

Can we assume that you're monitoring temperatures and all temps are within the normal range? Temps are a potential culprit.

wow, ive been to many forums and most of the times got hardly any answers, anyways yes i have tried so many differnt drivers, unistalling, reainstalling, using driversweeper and all that, i did not mention ive tried ALOT, of things including memtest, furmark, and a cpu test i think it was occt or something, ive tried diff ram slots, ive tried looking in event veiwer wich i do see some errors but i have no idea what they mean half the time and its not many. i am lost with this and it is ruining my pc gaming, i built this pc especialy for gaming, as i was sick of my 360 and ps3. i have aa disabled most the time in games as i feel i dont need it, im using the latest driver

im starting to think its somethin to do with my tv, cuz its a real cheapy, hdtv hdmi, lcd 60hz, basicly for the witcher 2 i HAVE to use a fps limiter otherwise its stuttery as hell, even though fps is crazy high, same with skyrim, if skyrim is not capped at 50 fps its not smooth at all, if i cap at 30fps its choppy and stuttery even though its solid 30, it still stutters in 50 though, just not as bad in skyrim, in my hdtv manual it says that my res wen connecting to tv should be 1366x178 but windows says recomended is 1360x768. ii just dont know im lost

does anyone think my psu is suffishient, sorry bout my spelling, its got really bad in the last few months. i do wonder about the psu sometimes but its not like iv gt the money to just buy another, so id have to be very sure, does anyone think its worth taking it to a computer shop, and ask em to make sure its all setup correct
post #8 of 16
Unless your PSU is faulty, 600w is plenty for a single graphics card setup.

with "another 4gb set" do you then mean a different brand of ram? If your motherboard supports dual channel memory, and the ram blocks are of a different brand AND inserted into the wrong slots. For example:
Bracket 1a Ram Inserted
Bracket 1b Ram Inserted
Bracket 2a
Bracket 2b
This would result in bad memory performance, since you should then either use 1a + 2a or 1b + 2b. HOWEVER! This is very dependant on the motherboard configuration. Refer to your manual for clarification.

Also try posting the error messages, maybe you get lucky and someone has had the exact same erroe message.

I've read a couple of threads in the past days of people having issues with connecting to a TV for gaming purpose. If you have a spare monitor, try playing on that to see if it helps.

thanks for your reply bro, i have an old crt moniter i could try, its one of the real old skool ones, the ram is not diff brand there both ripjaw gskill, and they have all the same spec just slightly diff voltage, one set should run at 1300mhz and the other at 1600mhz, ive set them both to 1300mhz, other than that theyre identical the ram slots have differnt colours though , black and blue, 2 black, 2 blue.

just checked its as you say, p8z68-v A1,A2 B1, B2, and diff colours and i do have them set as 2 sets in A1, B1, and another set in A2, B2

Does you board have a MemOK! button? IIRC, Asus boards ships with that function, it could effectively rule out your RAM as the problem. Just a thought.

Any update on switching from tv to the monitor?
