Overclocking processors used to be extremely nerdy, but if anything it's becoming more common these days. For those intent on squeezing performance from their chip, Intel's new CPU insurance means getting it wrong needn't be that expensive.

I dunno bout you, but it's not MY wet dream.. but it shows promise biggrin.gif

"i dunno wat happen sir the damn thing stopped working"

Yes it's a dick move but you're robbing money from a company who's been robbing you for years...

2 wrongs don't make a right. infact abusing the system will probably end up with the program being closed.

Yeah because 0.5% of PC owners care how high it will overclock. And 0.000000000000000001% actually have kill a chip. I'm pulling those numbers out of my ass but you get the point. Most people that will get the insurance are people that like to press an instant OC button on their motherboard for a moderate overclock at which the chip can chill at for 5-7 years 24/7.

I don't think you understand we are an extremely small minority of intel chip owners.

What about the revenue for the people who will pay the insurance fee but never use it? I have never killed a chip in my life and I've owned and overclocked about 7 or 8 now. And I run them hard. I'm pretty sure Intel has decision makers who are smarter than you or me who took into account people killing chips on purpose. And besides what with $54 billion in their pockets this year I think they can take a small gamble to see how it plays out, but I bet my entire rig they will still make a lot of money from this program.

54 billions in revenue, not in their pockets thumb.gif

Going for a high OC will probably kill your mobo before the CPU die.
