Which gaming mouse and mousepad?

All right, so I've checked out umart's mouse / pad section and the best two mice I can see are: Razer Imperator Ergonomic Laser Gaming Mouse which is $90 (AU) and the Razer DeathAdder V2 Infrared High Precision Gaming Mouse 3500DPI which is $62.

I've been having trouble picking out a mousepad from their selection. I don't really know if I want a cloth or hard mousepad. I currently have a cheap and horrible plastic one right now. I want a plain dark coloured one but I thought I'd pick this up because it's only $20 and I can at least get a feel for it: SteelSeries 63303 Qck Starcraft II - Marauder Limited Edition

It's a cloth mousepad and it's pretty huge... 450 x 400 x 2 mm. Alternatively, this Razer Iron Clad pad looks pretty awesome but it's smaller (320 x 270 x 2.5 mm) and is $65 -- I'm not sure I want to spend that without knowing if I'll like it or not.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a better gaming mouse in that selection that I've missed? Or a better mousepad? Appreciate the help.

I went through 3 Razer Nagas in about 9 months, all of them broke - various problems. I'm forever done with Razer's products.

Have you considered Logitech? ..specifically the G700? What specific features do you need, because I'm beyond in love with my G700 and it lacks nothing that I can think of.

http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=24&bid=4&sid=67103

Wireless and wired, which was a huge plus for me, the button layout is fantastic, adjustable DPI up to 5700, profiles stored BY GAME! on the mouse, automatically switches between profiles depending on what game is open..

It's more than I could've hoped for. And no, I don't get a commission for selling these tongue.gif

Mousepads are way out of my realm, however, I use my desk with absolutely no problems.

I see. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the G700. I think it looks a little small for me and there's too many buttons. I only need three (I won't use any more than that) and something VERY comfortable.

I'm looking at the Razer Imperator from pccasegear and it says it is a (new) 6400 DPI 4G dual sensor mouse, whereas umart shows the 5600 DPI 3.5G laser mouse. I wonder why umart doesn't have it?

Forget about it, I'll send mine back these days. All their twin-eye sensor mice have some dynamic CPI scaling activated to reduce jitter. It's some kind of acceleration and it's really bad and will kill your precision.

I asked Razer about a firmware with this thing disabled (they first activated this in a later firmware in the original Mamba), but they ignore me so I can only recommend to stay away from them. They are fakes and they don't give a damn about your precision.

I see... so stay away from dual sensor stuff? Go with the 3.5g Imperator?

Hmm...

I already have the Magic Mouse (and Trackpad) for use in Lion. I'm after a gaming mouse, but somehow I suspect you knew that already wink.gif

I've played a full spectrum of games with it. ME2, DA:O, Crysis 2, and many many more, and I've had no problems with it in a year and a half. It's been surprisingly good on my hand.

Out of the mice offered on that site I'd probably opt for either the Logitech G400 or the Razer Deathadder Black Edition (I'd pay a couple extra bucks to not have some fruity glowing LED). Both will work very well on that QcK (and the pad itself is a great soft pad, I'm not much for them but I'd say more people prefer them to hard pads), and have some of the best precision of any mouse listed on that site.

Actually I'd personally opt for the CM Storm Spawn, but that's a pretty specific shape preference. Based more on the sensor and overall comfort among the general populace, the Deathadder and G400 are probably safer bets.
