Knockoff Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver

Thread Starter
Okay, so after my retail adapter to use a wireless 360 controller on my computer broke, I had to buy a new one off of ebay. Microsoft doesn't produce them anymore.

First off let us be able to recognize the difference between a real and a ripoff. A real one will say Microsoft on the front of it, and fake ones are labled XBOX 360.

Left = Real, Right = Fake

Ones that are fake do not properly match up with the official Microsoft drivers, therefore they will not work at all unless you configure them properly. If you do get a fake one, it is recomended that you return the item immediately and report the seller.

If for the chance that you cannot return the item and still need to use it without getting ripped off, then you can follow the steps below to get it to work.

(Windows 7)
Open device manager
Find the unrecognized device
Right click and choose update drivers
Choose browse my computer for driver software
Choose Le me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Choose Microsoft common controller for windows class
Choose Xbox 360 Controller For Windows

It should function properly now.

Maybe you should change the title to "non OEM" or something. It sounds like you are advocating counterfeiting them lol.
