First-timer Eyefinity Set-up! Need Advice!

Hey all!! First, allow me to start by saying, that I intend to use my sig-rig to pull this masterpiece off. Now, I came across a Samsung 2333SW monitor a week ago and played BF3 on it, side-by-side my LG 47LG90 1080p/120hz LCDTV, and I was super impressed to say the least! The monitor makes my TV look like crap in comparisson! Needless to say, I'm now determined to go with a 3-span Eyefinity setup!

However, I do have a few questions and concerns that I need to address before I make all this happen. As I said previously, I have a Samsung 2333SW Monitor; should I get 2 more of the same monitors, or 2 more newer Samsung monitors? Is the Samsung 2333 a good monitor for Eyefinity?I play BF3 MP 99% of the time and I intend to play BF3 @ 5760x1080p -- Is my rig powerful enough? What else do I need to make this happen? Do I need one of those 3-span Monitor Mounts that I've seen (like the XFX Triple-Monitor Stand)?

Also, being that I am going to essentially replace my 47" LCDTV with these 3 monitors, will I be able to watch Blurays and other HD video files across the three screens in 5760x1080 or will it only play on my "main" monitor?

Im curious to see the feedback and response from others who have more experience than I in this arena.

I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!

1. You should always use identical monitors so that colorsand response time are the same.
2. Yes your rig is powerful enough, assuming you have 2 GB VRAM per card.
3. You need an active DisplayPort to DVI/HDMI adapter if your monitors do not have native DP. Make sure to get an Eyefinity certified one!
4. A triple display stand is in reality not necessary (and not very cost efficient either) but some may criticize you. It's up to you whether ot not you feel it's worth it.
5. It depends on the resolution of the video, a 5760x1080 video will span all three screens; a 1920x1080 will only fill up your center monitor.

Also, I just realized that the monitor I have is the Samsung 2333SW. There is another monitor, the Samsung 2333T which is $20-30 cheaper and available locally. The differences are:

Samsung 2333SW
20k contrast ratio
5ms response time

Samsung 2333T
50k contrast ratio
8ms response time

Should I order 2 of the Samsung 2333T or 2333SW?

As far as performance. It depends how you want to play. If 30-40fps on average is okay for you, then you might be ok with your current rig. Mind you though, that I've had 6990+6970 and it was not very smooth (on high+ultra settings) even though the average fps seemed to be high it was quite stuttery, so if you want all the eye-candy you might want to think about getting a pair of 7970s, but I guess you should try it with your current cards first and then decide.

Take a look over here to see what you might expect (though they use i7-3960x and this is single player not multi):

I'd highly recommend identical monitors. This is my first eyefinity setup, but far from my first multi monitor setup. If you want to game on 3 monitors, color difference is really distracting.
from the benchmarks I've seen, your system should perform better than mine, and bf3 is more than playable for me. I don't remember my exact settings off hand, but they are something around high with little AA. It's definitely not ultra, but it's working for me just fine. My framerates aren't high, but not noticeable 99% of the time.

As for the stands, you don't NEED a 3x mount. Mine are currently just sitting on the desk, with the center monitor slightly forward of the side 2 and the bezels overlapping. In game I don't notice that from my angle the center monitor's bottom edge is lower than the other two. Not gaming it is noticeable, but not terrible. If you're handy, there's a lot of options for building a 3x monitor mount.

FWIW, I played bf3 side by side with a 5ms acer monitor and one of my asus 2ms monitors and had a hard time finding a difference. If you look for the lag, you can find it, but I don't think you would ever notice it otherwise. I went with the 2ms monitors purely because they were on sale and I prefer the color temp of non-led monitors. However that's not to say you won't be distracted in eyefinity when the response rates aren't the same.

Also, being that 2 of the monitors will be angled in, in a U shape, what size desk would you guys recommend; as far as length?

Funny you mention that. I just bought a new sheet of plywood for my desk. Im using a 23.6 inch and have 2 20 inches on the way. In my opinion I would go with around 70"x18" (18 was the default size in the shop so it was cheaper to take that size, anything else would have been extra, still perfect though)
