Rasa question?

Hey guys, I've wanted to do a custom loop for the longest but I've had some car issues so that's not looking too positive at the moment frown.gif My car finally died and I have to purchase a new one so that puts a hit on my PC funds at the moment. BUT there is hope! Instead of going with a full custom loop and all it's glory I'm thinking of just going with this Rasa kit here:

http://dazmode.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=178_201&products_id=1876

Now I know it comes with the raystorm block which is considered one of the better cpu blocks. I was going to buy an RX 360 rad with the custom loop I was putting together so that's win/win. But I'm curious, the pump in the dazmode kit is a pretty decent one right? It says "DazMode Storm D5 Strong Pump" so I'm assuming that it would be a step up from the regular Rasa pump and I could get a little more life/use out of it? I'm really just wondering because I've heard so many people say that the stock pumps on the regular Rasa kits suck or die easily. Worth the extra $140 for this kit?

Well that rasa block is one of the top 10 blocks I believe, and of the top 10, the temps only change by about 0.5c between each block, so you really won't be getting much better performance, if any more performance with the other block. The pump is small, good for something like 3 blocks, although other people say they have done a lot more. Some people love the pump, some people hate it. Since I don't have it, I can't really give you an opinion. If you do want a better pump though, you can find one cheaper then $140 like you said.

If it were me, I would just buy the stock rasa rx360 kit. You get an awesome value over a custom loop, with comparable temps to a custom high end setup.

Thanks for the reply Willan, I'll look into so more comparisons on this kit against the other Rasa kits to get more of an idea on what I need at the moment . No matter what, it's a good start for someone who hasn't used water cooling before I suppose. I just know that after I get it all set up, I'll be itching to get something else going with it biggrin.gif That's how I was after I built my first PC. I got it all put together and then the next day I was ordering more parts. It's an addiction and I'm about to open the flood gates....wheee.gif

Well, you're paying more for a better pump, compression fittings instead of barbs, and a cpu block that's ~$20 more expensive than the Rasa block. The D5 isn't a bad pump at all, it's significantly better than the one in the Rasa kits. If you picked up a similar pump, a Raystorm, and an RX360 separately, you're looking at about $250, adding in compression fittings and tubing and you're pretty much at the same cost, so I'd probably just go custom rather than picking up that kit to ensure you get exactly what you want. Unless, of course, that kit IS exactly what you want, in which case it's not unreasonably priced.

Ive extensively been shopping everywhere comparing self designed system with the same items as the dazmode raystorm kit and havent been able to beat the price for the same components he provides.

The stock rasa rx360 is an awesome kit, the pump is the smallest of worries, it can easily do 2 blocks and 2 rads, and the new water block makes like a 1c differnce most of the time, so I I were in ur shoes I would pay 140 more for those tiny upgrades, sure sits a bit shinyer but if u want performance to price u lose a tiny bit of epeen, but that's no big one, just the normal kit rocks socks, and 140 is a bucket load compared to the base kit anyway,
If I were in ur shoes and as an owner of a rasa kit, just get the normal one it's good and cheap, for the extra cash u may as well be full custom,

Hey all, I would have gotten back sooner but with school starting back up and work kicking my arse I've been quite busy. I've done some more research and decided that since I can't go full custom at the moment, I'll just go half...custom? My budget is $500 so I can get the parts I want rather than what I'm given to work with. I'll just start with my cpu and incorporate all the other goodies when more time/funds are available. I'll make sure to get my list of parts and show it to you experienced water coolers in advance. Thanks again for the advice and suggestions. thumb.gif

$500 should get you a pretty nice loop, to be honest... An RX360 rasa kit, a couple of GPU blocks and fittings, and some tubing, and you're on your way. Down the road you can always expand to a second radiator and stronger pump, or you can do like I do and bargain-hunt for even better deals. I was patient and picked over the marketplace and was able to put together a 2x gtx460 + cpu loop for ~$350.

That's pretty much what I'm gettng ready to do bakageta. I'm shopping around on all the main sites, picking and choosing what I think would work best in my budget. I do want to get a better pump then the stock rasa one and am looking at the MCP 655 or 35X. I'll have to wait to add the cards cause they'll be $100 bucks a block. I may get away with adding one card but then my other one will look all lonely with all the awesome watercooling surrounding it. tongue.gif Ah but who knows, I'll figure it out when the time comes.
