Still not a big fan of the start menu there, I honestly like the simpler ones like xfce/gnome 2. The rest of cinnamon seems like a good change from Gnome 3.

Sorry, pure debian, not linux mint debian. I'm sure it will be soon, but it isn't at the moment. The repos aren't the same, so I'm missing certain versions of some libraries.

I dunno, it looks alright, but I agree its very Windows 7 like. I am using KDE right now, since I really like Amarok2 and it's pretty stable.

I installed this to give it a go, and tried switching the layout of the panel, to the panel being up at top thru the cinnamon settings, and it locked up. i dropped to cli, had to delete ~/.config/dconf, before i was able to get back to the login manager, and back into a working desktop.

It is a nice attempt so far for people who want to move to the modern technologies, but want a more familiar interface.

Been using it with Cairo-dock GLX and I gotta say, it's pretty nice. smile.gif I've been testing Ubuntu, to see what Unity is all about, that's okay as well, but now I am back with Arch and using Cinnamon. GNOME3 with GNOME2 styling. Best of both worlds.

Same, Cinnamon and Cairo-Dock compliment each other very nicely.

After compiling the latest version from git last week, I was pleasantly surprised at the new settings, it looks like the developers have merge advanced settings/ gnome tweak into Cinnamon settings, so now you can change the window theme, icon theme, cursor theme and GTK theme from within Cinnamon.

After all the complaints at how it looked too similar to windows, I thought I'd give theming Cinnamon a try and was surprised at how easy it was, here is my latest theme below and can be downloaded at this link

Very nice! I am currently using the theme Flax. I am also going to install the Faenza icon set. biggrin.gif Then I need to figure out how to change the Mint spikey ball thing next to the menu (which I renamed Arch) to the Arch icon. smile.gif

go to your theme folder and swap out the start-here.svg/png and distributor-logo.svg/png with what you want.
