This is on-topic TheLegend. With news and information one needs to question and your question is a valid one. There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and proposals and that will not fail to keep man in everlasting ignorance - That principle is "Contempt Prior to Investigatigation".

This is why one needs to trust prior to verification. If one is contemptuous prior to investigation of an unknown (whatever the unknown may be) then they will not be neutral in the searching of the information for verification purposes.

These people have a hard time finding themselves in error in disagreements because they mistrust anything that is put forward to them and since they already believe in what they "Know", they are hard put to trust that they may be in error.

Clearly I shall trust prior to verification. I trust that the unknown is an unknown quantity, and as such may well be correct or incorrect. I trust that I do not, at the time prior to verification, have any real proof one way or the other, and that all I can hold is logic and common sense which will at all times be less than true proof.

Trust does not mean correct. It means to be confident that the truth of the thing will come out. It will come out almost always in the "Verification" process. This may not be in my desired time but in the fullness of time, the verification process will almost always provide the necessary proof.
