Hello Guys,

Anyone using this laptop here?

I just got mine a few days ago. Its the i5 model. Just replaced the 320GB HDD with Corsair Force 3 SSD. Now it is fast..

Will add some more info into this first post later.

Please share your S3 experience here.

Thanks.

Hi there. My fan is working almost every time? Do you know any app to change fan speed or whatever.

Well I wished I had enough money for the i7 or i5 series,... but i had to settle with the cheap i3 series.
But i had a Samsung and Kingston SSD lying around that i wanted to install.

What i found out is, the laptop will not take any normal Thick SSD into itself.
You either have to have a slim type similar to the Samsung 830 series or 840 series.
Kingston V+ series are too large but if you willing to the the Housing apart you can fit it also.

Here are some images of the layout inside. It will take some fines to remove the HDD.
Pull up slide forward in an angle and lift. (Is the best way to describe it, to install same motion but in reverse)

Installing the SSD I can achive 8-13sec boot up from Complete shut down.
10-15 sec Resume and 1 sec from sleep. Battery life gain was about 15-45 min depending on the what you are doing.
I am now looking at a way to increase the battery size on mine.
(I know i should have bought the i7 or i5 but i am a poo bastard i just have to do it DIY style)

What i am happy about is that my Model comes with USB 3.0 and HDMI.
There are a total of 3 revision out i think.
The Grey Keyboard one USB 2.0
The Black Keyboard with USB 3.0 Ivy (Suppose to be better but Have not come accross one)
The Black Keyboard with USB 3.0 Sandy (Mine is a Sandy Bridge)

I am also looking for someone that can Unlock Bioses for these machines. This laptop would be awesome with 256 Video ram instead 128.

I have the S3-951, i5-2467M, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD + 20GB SSD, HD 3000 etc. It is a great computer and adheres to most of my requirements. However, I would like to overclock the CPU and GPU so that I can do a little 'light' gaming.
Even better would be the ability to hook up an external GPU with a PSU and use that with the wifi card interface. I understand that this will likely only give me a mere 60% of the external card's power but at least it will be significantly more powerful than the integrated 128MB HD 3000.
