Seriously, noobs giving out information is asking for disaster. Ginger7 - your motherboard is a 770 AMD chipset.
It WILL NOT support an FX CPU, in any way, shape or form. You are limited to old stock Phenom II processors, and might even need a bios update for the 960t or any x6 chip.
hence, I suggest you overclock your current rig a little to tide you over whilst you save for a new platform (motherboard+CPU - probably low-mid range intel), but do not overclock too far as your motherboard is not built to handle it.

sorry dude! damn i didnt check his mobo! when he himself suggested getting a fx 4100 i thought his mobo would be am3+ compatible! doh.gif

It's all good. The devil is in the details. I can't tell you how many stories I've heard of people buying mismatched CPU's and motherboards for similar situations though. More amazing is when someone has zero idea and manages to put together a rig that works biggrin.gif It mightn't be the most well-balanced rig, but I know a guy who just went onto newegg and started selecting components - he had no idea that intel made more than one CPU socket type, and no help, yet ended up with a working rig. It's practically a miracle haha

your mobo is 6 core ready according to manufacturer. grab them while you can. plus it can handle up to 140W.

solid caps and more but i'll add some vrm cooling. our rigs should last us a awhile longer.
