Looking for first mech keyboard - Page 2

I don't think we are supposed to link to ebay, so I wont. But have a look at the KBC poker.

The Blacks for purely gaming, Reds for a mixture where you don't want force pushing the key back up after you press it down (if i recall correctly) and browns if you do want that slight force (if i recall correctly once again...)

No switch is for any specific task, this is a huge fallacy that is widespread. Blacks are a heavy linear switch, reds are a light linear switch, and browns are a light tactile switch. Also, I've never heard of a rule against posting ebay links, I've posted them numerous times.

It's not "only for gaming"

its just extremely painful to type on for more than 15 minutes at a time; for me anyways. I'm only posting there "intended" purpose. Some might like other ones for different things, and that's fine. I'm just posting the general consensus. I used my friends mx black board and i didn't last 5 minutes before my wrists were in excruciating pain. Now I likely have Psoriatic Arthritis, but that's beside the point, the brown works perfect. Now This may be different for different people, but the overall consensus is what I posted.

Unless you are a key smasher like me, blacks are probably about right for me for typing lol.

I would never buy a steelseries keyboard just because of the fat enter key. biggrin.gif

Blacks are great for typing for some people, like me. You have to get used to the force required to push them but it took me only 10 minutes to do that. Maybe you just have weak hands/fingers rolleyes.giftongue.gif

Thats the problem though this opinion is spread around and its just not true. General consensus of what? OCN? Because this seems to be the place where this comes from but it just continues to get carried over because that s what people read. Probably from some post and on and on.

I think I want to try the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid. Debating between ordering the red now and waiting for the brown. I definitely want a lighter experience than a rubber dome keyboard (sometimes pressing ctrl for rocket jumps in TF2 is uncomfortable), but I'm afraid reds will be too light and lead to accidental keypresses. On the other hand, I'm afraid the tactility of the browns may get annoying while playing FPS games. I realize I'm probably going to have to try them both out myself, but can anybody comment on transitioning from rubber domes to reds (how easy is it to press the wrong key??) or what it is like having that tactile bump while gaming (FPS, not RTS or RPG)?

Thanks.

Anybody? I feel like browns would be nice in FPS' for things like changing weaps with the 1-3 keys, or other actions where you just hit it once and you're done, but I feel like the tactile bump might get annoying when using WASD. On the other hand, I feel like reds would be great for everything except maybe more precise maneuvers like duck tapping. With red there would be no feedback of when it actuates so it might be harder to time?
