Can I use 3rd party 2.5" hard drive with xbox 360? - Page 2

I've got a WD3200BEKT on the way, going to see if there's any detectable performance distance between it and the stock 250GB. This console is doing my head in. Playing Skyrim, I'm sick of seeing textures pop in all the time, and other delays like when I punch a mud crab sometimes there's a 1 second delay before it registers (I think it's seeking the sound effect).

So do you not have to flash it with HDDhacker anymore? Back in early 2012 I bought a 250gb wd blue drive and I had to flash it to use it on my xbox

You still need to flash.

The question I'd really like answered, is do you need to prep the drives with WDIDLE to avoid excessive head parking, or is this behaviour controlled/overwritten by the third party firmware anyway?
