Will a Pentium e6500 bottleneck a Radeon HD6850?

Thread Starter
I'm thinking of getting some upgrades for my second computer for about $200 and the two items I found to be the best for that price range were:

Intel Pentium E6500
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002LM38YK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A7FBNXKGUIQD6

and an

Sapphire Radeon HD6850
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047ZGIUK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I'm mostly just going to be playing games and working in photoshop as well as browsing the web and watching netflix. So I don't need an amazing CPU. Just one good enough to get by, right now I have a Pentium D(single core) which bottlenecks my current gpu(nvidia 9600gt).
And even when browsing youtube it lags, luckily I have a good internet to make up for it.

But, I'm worried that it won't be good enough, and that in games like BF3, Starcraft 2, and many others, that it will bottleneck the HD6850.
I don't know too much about how games utilize the cores, but I know BF3 can utilize 4 cores, so idk if it would hurt while playing that, but if anyone could help that would be awesome.

Oh, also another option would be to get a:

Core 2 Duo e8400 (Used) on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Intel-E8400-Processor-Socket-LGA775/dp/B00116SLYY/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327441671&sr=1-2

And, from what I've heard, it won't bottleneck the gpu.

The only problem is I'm kind of uncomfortable with buying a used product, even though it is on Amazon.
But if it is the only way in that price range to avoid bottleneck I would do it.

If anyone knows any alternative options then please let me know. Thankyou for any help. =)

TL;DR: Worried about bottlenecking with Pentium e6500 and HD6850. Mostly gaming and browsing internet. Could get a Core 2 Duo e8400 Used on Amazon in my price range, worth it? Any better options would be helpful! ty

I would not recommend any of those the Pentium will bottleneck you and the DUO would still bottleneck you SLIGHTLY but for a extra 25 bucks you can get a 2500k.

the thing about that is, the reason that Im getting a core 2 or a Pentium is that I have a 775 Socket Motherboard, which is $100 less I'd have to spend, also, a 2500k would cost $200, with the core 2 duo, I was looking at the used one for $85, not the "new price." I mean, if the core 2 duo just bottlenecked it slightly, it'd be at least a lot better than what I have now, I can't play BFBC2 with more than 10fps

Edit: If it were possible would the Core 2 Quad be a good choice? There are some good "used" deals out there.

Well e8400 will bottleneck 6850. And at what quad core CPU's are you looking at? In most cases I would go with a quad core.

your planning on using a 4+ year old cpu with a newer gpu and you worried about bottlenecking? Too me your only option is take the bottleneck. People throw the term bottleneck around like if it happens your causing irreversible damage to your computer. So what your cpu is slowing down your graphics card. Not like ur going to be playing BF3 maxed out at 2560x1600.

You might save $100 now but why not buy the BEST? 2500K will be a TOP CPU in another 3 years.

Dude what are You talking about? He is just trying to find the best solution because he has a fixed low budget. And if he could get a hold of a Yorkfield C2Q then it wouldn't definitely be no bottleneck.

Totally agree.. And for the price point you want I would say go with the E8400. What resolution are you playing at? What 775 mobo are you pairing it with? I would say OC the hell out of the E8400 but with 1333Mhz FSB cpu you will need faster RAM (if it's DDR2) and a good mobo.. Something like a P43 or P45 chipset.. Just my .02
