[FUD] AMD pulls "blind test" at recent show - Page 8

This is a crock. If AMD had a faster computer they wouldn't run this test. this test screams of weakness.

Up a few posts one guy who was at the test says BF3. Of course nobody knows the graphics settings, nor the screen resolution even. Starting to feel like this is just a flamebait test, kind of like how AMD said the 8150 was faster than a 2500k, 2600k, and a 980X (of course, by cherry-picking benchmarks).

yeah use BF3 where the I7 has micro-stutter issues, which most people perceive as a general annoyance.

Just wondering if they used some of the common fixes for micro-stutter on their test machine?

Realistically the results should have been a wash (most not seeing any difference) unless the AMD video drivers work better with AMD processors

Every time they have shown off bulldozer lately it has been for gaming. Go figure.

On the most advanced PC game to date (at least in terms of multiplayer), people couldn't tell a difference between the AMD CPU and Intel CPU, even if the AMD CPU is inferior. In fact, most people voted for the AMD system as the winner, which means that AMD did something right... at least in this test. Bear in mind, Battlefield 3 is not a CPU limited game provided you have 3 or 4 cores that are moderately fast. Hell, I can turn my graphics settings on low, go into a 64-man server, and watch fraps from every angle, and my framerate on my crappy phenom II X4 will never drop below 60 fps. The CPU is more than powerful enough to handle to most demanding situations in the game easily.
AMD's Achilles heel in all of this is the damn power consumption of Bulldozer. If that had been better, then AMD might have won me over on their new architecture. Since intel is out front in both overall performance and efficiency, it's hard to give AMD any credit. However, in terms of gaming, it's apparent that the gaming industry is mostly GPU-limited right now. That's a good thing for AMD.

I'd still go the Intel route if you have the money to do so. I'm just a bit tired of seeing the "MOAR CORES" philosophy after the release of Deneb. Intel seems to be doing well with regular 4 cores, why not do the same? I know their approach in terms of design is new and still needs to mature (module design), but I don't see why it's necessary when you can take a more reasonable approach that just might not hurt the company's image or the consumer. Thinking out-of-the-box isn't always the best ideology to follow.

Oh my God...I...I actually THOUGHT of something...
Sure, it might not make sense and I just made a fool out of myself, but I actually THOUGHT!!!

Even 7970s are going to be GPU limited on most decent CPUs on a triple screen Eyefinity setup, so I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a 2700k and an FX-8150 myself. At stock speeds the FX isn't completely hopeless either as it has some very aggressive turbo modes.

I was at the event and didn't notice that they had the Blind Test going on.

I did win second place in the FX overclock challenge.
