Come on just think about it for a second , do you really think they would slap such a crappy gpu on their next console ?
Modified customized 7000 series GPU sounds bang on with what we need , plus if you look back it would make sense PS3 and X360 were pretty powerfull when they were released back in the day.
Using something like 6670 would make this new Xbox outdated and outclassed at the start , for the 100th time NO FREAKING WAY IT'S GONNA BE 6670 !!!!

Both need to be taken with a grain of salt. Personally I don't believe for a second that they use the carpy 6670 and instead think (like I posted earlier) that it will be something based on a 7950 or similar spec from nvidia.

Let's falsely assume that it is sufficiently faster. It still needs something to motivate 360 owners to upgrade. Support for user generated content, m+kb support, cross platform play, backwards compatibility, etc... Something! A few pitiful exclusives aren't going to cut it this time. This is Microsoft's chance to bring their console closer to PCs.

If http://semiaccurate.com/2012/01/18/xbox-nextxbox-720-chips-in-production/ is to be believed dev kits have just now been sent along with the first chip wafers coming out. Now think about all the things that are involved in optimizing a game. Take any game on the PC and try to find a setting that squeeze out every last bit of eye candy while sill running good FPS all the time, no 15FPS dips allowed. That's just the very basic of optimization work what dev's do on a console is so much more advanced. Getting a game to run on the brick of the vram available and juggling all the other assets on a new peace of hardware need a lot of testing. Whats the new poly count limit? How high res textures can we use? Yes they can calculate and guess some of the stuff and simulate others but making assets cots money so making them just on the edge of what the hardware can run is risky. And how about the game engines them self's? Do you think all the game houses have new engines that support all the new features just sitting and waiting? No hardware first software later the new features will trickle in as new releases are made.
