By the time these new consoles come out, PC hardware will be 20 times more powerful than them (the new ones, not the current gen).
Consoles will never catch up to the awesomeness that is PC gaming.

Yeha... and there's no game on the PC that looks 3 times better than on a console. And we have games like metro 2033 which we can't even max out at 60fps with a 7970 and an i7 which is supposedly to be a 10 times better machine than an xbox 360.

Battlefield 3.

What settings, resolution, and FPS does BF3 run on XBox/PS? Also, the game maps are smaller/less physics than PC versions.

Console upscale BF3 from 1280x704 at around 30FPS on Low.
A HD7970 will run the game at 1920x1080 at 60FPS on Ultra.

Based on resolution and FPS alone... that is 4-5 times difference.

Yup. Even on my 5850 I'm going Ultra on all settings (though i took out the motion blur simply because I don't like it). Can't tell you how awesome the game looks when you dive into a car and a tank blows it up right in front of you.

A 6670? It's just a TAD bit better than my 5850, which is a 2 year old card now. When this releases we'll have 9970's out, destroying anything a console could possibly output.

6670 .... is bottom line for today's gaming is probably 6770 and the promised next gen consoles have something worse...sad face.

No my numbers are accurate.

PCI-E 2.x 16x has a 8Gb/sec aggregate bandwidth (with it being 4Gb/sec bi-directional).

Dual Channel PC3-12800 at 1800Mhz hits about 25Gb, and PC3-16000 will hit about 33Gb/sec in terms of overclocking the memory.

Vram average is about 100Gb/sec; but I guess 150Gb/sec this year would be about right.

Xbox360's memory bandwidth between the CPU, GPU and Memory was 22.6Gb/sec. It's actually very impressive in comparison to a High-end PC.
-- A modern PC has PCI-E with 8Gb/sec [4Gb/sec bi-directional bandwidth]
-- Main Memory at 25Gb/sec
-- VRam at an average of 100Gb/sec
It's a lousy architecture.
The biggest problem of course is the interface to the GPU; the PCI-E bus.
Xbox360's "bus interconnect" is 3x wider than that. Kind of puts things in perspective really.
Your numbers are off.

A modern PC has PCIe 2.0. This is a bidirectional 4Gb/s per link. GPUs are generally connected with either x8 (32Gb/s) or x16 (64Gb/s) link. [Not 4Gb/s]

Main Memory of DDR3-1333 in dual channel is 170Mb/s while DDR3-1600 is 204Mb/s. [Not 25Gb/s]

VRAM bandwidth of a GTX580 is 1500Gb/s while a HD7970 is 2100Gb/s. [Not 100Gb/s]

Furthermore, it has been proven that PCIe bandwidth does NOT bottleneck a GPU significantly. A x16 PCIe 2.x connection more than enough for any current video card.

It's subjective, I've seen a maxed out BF3 on PC, and BF3 on the Xbox, PC is noticeably better, but I wouldn't say it's even 3 times better looking. But again, that's an opinion.

Sonnuva, you're right. *smacks self in face* 6670... Not 6870...

So, lemme reiterate. This isn't even AS good as my 2 year old card. Ya know, I used to buy consoles for certain games, now, I'm strongly rethinking that. Though it would kill me not to play the next Metal Gear game (real Metal Gear, not that Raiden garbage).
