If you would know anything about console and PC GPU's you wouldn't spew that kind of nonesense.
Optimization is nowhere near that great, it comes at a huge cost of AA AF and horrible washed out low resolution textures and that's why devs are able to make games like Crysis 2 or BF3 run on the consoles, this is your "oprimisation".

Well the watered down graphics would qualify as "optimization" for the consoles. The game is altered for optimum performance smile.gif

Their real point, and I assume it has been repeated over and over as I haven't been in this thread for the last 200 posts or so, is that if you built a PC using PC hardware comparable to the hardware in the Xbox 360 you wouldn't get even a fraction of the power out of it that an xbox can. I toss PCs like that in the garbage every other week because they are pretty much worthless.

When you replace the operating system, drivers, and APIs with a little piece of firmware that has all hardware hard coded in...you can really become efficient. Look into some of the console emulators on the PC. It takes a very decent amount of PC power even to mimic a Play Station 2.

Consoles do have an advantage of not needing to go through API or having resource hog of OS in the background so the same GPU will obviously do beter in the console than in PC but people seem to think this is some huge difference that makes 580 out of 6670 which is ridiculous.
Devs are forced to make big cuts on the quality of the games to make them run at playable FPS and this is where the big difference in GPU requirement comes from not some magical "optimization".
Consoles do have advantage but people blow it way out of proportion, there is no chance in hell 6670 would be sufficient GPU for a next gen console, this is absolute rubbish.

Didn't the Xbox and PS3 have 7800GT equivalents? That card was mid-range (nearly high-end actually) back when those consoles were released.

Agreed. When the 360 came out, it had a Tri-Core Processor....wasn't that like MEGA high end at the time? I wonder what they will do for a CPU. Maybe a Hex-Core? I doubt they will go the PlayStation route and go with cell processors.

Actually a 580 might be possible...though I have a feeling the AA capability of a 580 would never get into a console within the next 20 years. Maybe 4x AA, but the details and shading I think might be able to be done. The CPU/FPU in a console plays as much a part in it all as the GPU.

Though 560 ti performance is probably more realistic.

but I am just guessing on my experience thus far with emulators limited experience on actually playing a console

I remember reading, from the creators on Unreal Tournament 4, (2013), was designed to run on next generation consoles.

Now they did say, to keep a constant 60fps, it would require dual GTX 580s SLI. They also said, that next generation cosoles would run an approximate "16-Core" processor. All speculation of course, from UT developers.

Hopefully they were speculating the PS4, cause I know a 6670 wont match a 580 SLI setup. I dont care how "optimized" the 720 is.

No. It wasn't. A "tri-core" processor means absolutely as much as saying a "3 GHz" processor. The CPU used in the Xbox has three pretty weak, in-order, power PC cores. They're competent for games, but they're probably more along the lines of an Intel Atom in terms of speed than, say, anything modern (like a Core 2 Duo or better).

Even if you gave the consoles the hardware to be like PC's, M$ & SONY would restrict features and usage on their machines. So at this point, it's not about catching up on the hardware end, it's that M$ and SONY are having a war on Open Use Components.

Don't believe me, just look at the lawsuit MS put on the makers of the Phantom Console PC. By the time the court threw out the lawsuit, the console makers had no money left for further R&D and manufacturing. MS shut a component design company down simply by engaging them in a failed legal argument. MS argument failed, but MS won regardless!

Makes me sad...

I think this is laughable, I remember a while back m$ said they developed a new kinect that can recognize a persons lip movement if I'm correct. Well what came of that? A whole lotta hot air and then nothing.
