I think the only way Consoles can be unbeatable is for them to choose a the most recent GPU card available. If it was a 6950 I would praise the heavens lol. Anything less and im not impressed and i definitely won't buy one, neither the ps4. Consoles are way too behind. I say choose the best GPU too date, then make a lesser costless version with a 6670 GPU or whatever they are planning on using now for peoples who don't want to spend close to 1000 bucks. Ill buy a xbox with a 6950 or above GPU and gladly pay over $699

6x faster..

So still slower than current PCs, and it's not even coming out for awhile. I was hoping they'd make them roughly equal to PCs, like they were when the 360/PS3 first came out.

lol there is no such thing as having an "unbeatable" console. It's kinda an oxymoron in itself. Consoles are basically non-upgradeable computers. No matter what GPU they put in any console, it will already be surpassed by newer tech. The DAY that a console launches is the closest it's ever going to come to a regular PC's quality and will only go down from that day as regular PC's are constantly being upgraded.

Look what PS3 can do with a 7800 GPU (e.j Uncharted 3) and you're complaining because the xbox 720 is going to use a 6670, which by all means doubles the potential of a 7800? On PC you can't even play crysis at low, 800x600 with a 7800...

Also, which is the point of a console to have an i7, a lot of ram and a 7970 if inevitably it's going to cost more than U$D800? Do you guys forget why the consoles exist and what are they made for? A console doesn't need the best GPU, neither something close to that. They've already proved that, with this generation of consoles, which have very precarious GPUs, and run very good looking games pretty decently.

Consoles are about cost-benefit. When are you going to understand that? 2 + 2 = 4, that's how the earth spins.

I can easily notice the difference between 720p and 1080p and I sit around 8 feet away from the TV (which is only 32").

No you can't.

So THAT'S where all the processing power got cut , or should i say butchered.rolleyes.gif
The lack of processing power is more telling than you think , and not just in the graphics department.

Even a decent AI would consume a fraction of the CPU time, it is just difficult to create, if I weren't on my phone typing this I would give more details.

Pathfinding can eat a lot of CPU, and alot of RTS like games games can bog down the CPU when you start scaling things. I know this is an odd example, but in C&C Zero Hour, the AI destroy my CPU in large scale battles.

Bigger CPU = more room for more AI = bigger worlds, and more freedom for the game dev. That said, I have no idea how those PowerPC 360 cores compare to the x86 ones we use.
