You can't compare a swiss army knife (pc) to a machete (console). A console is a focused single purpose gaming machine, the PC is not.
For those saying why don't they use the new 7000 series have no idea how to run a business. You do know using the latest will add to cost right? Mom and Pops ain't gonna buy their kid a >$500 console.

Totally correct yet....kids will continue to add crap to the post for the next 5 month cause. Reading and learning is hard.

Judging by the way people here spout about console optimization, no kiddies have no clue how programming for games work. Now I'm not saying I'm an expert either but I know the basics of how a game is made, compiled and so on. Yes a 6670 in a console would performer better then its PC counter part but lets not kid your selves it would not be able to do miracles. Games would still look better on PC even with current gen cards like the 7970 and the gap would fast widen as PC's steam ahead with faster and faster GPU's.
Your argument about business sense is completely false. As you should know the Xbox 360 has an $350 GPU in it yet the complete system only cost $250 so using a expensive GPU will not drive up the price and Moms and Pops can still by consoles even with fast hardware like a 79xx range GPU.

Mmm, I see. Thanks for that.

The console will definitely make a lot better use of that 6670 but it's still just not enough. They've said the 6670 will offer up to six times the performance as the previous GPU, but all games on XBox 360 are rendered at 1280x720 or less, in fact I believe 1024x600 is most common. This means that the six times performance benefit decreases at 1920x1080 to 2.6x or 1.8x, depending on the resolution of the game on 360. And don't forget most games on 360 run at 30 FPS.

All this would really do is bring support for 1080p and some improved graphics. So, I expect they'll continue to target 1280x720 if this rumour is true, and then use that 5-6x more power to improve graphics and just continue to scale it up to 1080p.

I heard somewhere that the xbox will be doing eyefinity. Called that ridiculous as no one has 3 flatscreen TVs...

Consoles will always be slower, to catch the target market of those not willing to spend the money (or the TLC) into building a gaming PC.

I just get all my PS3 friends to fold during foldathons, then I leave them alone about their gaming choices biggrin.gif

1. It is far easier, faster and cheaper to optimize for 1 cpu, 1 gpu, 1 HD, 1 Mobo and 1 "O/S" than it is to optimize for 20 GPUs, 20 CPUs, 20 mobos, 20 HDs, 4 O/S and compatibility with the top 100 programs

2. The graphical difference between a 360/Ps3 and a PC is nearly non existent when you consider that console gaming happens on a big screen 6"-12" away.

Think before you post. The 360 MIGHT have had a GPU comparative to a $350 GPU, BACK IN 2005. They didn't pay $350 for those GPUs.

I've read that CoD MW3 runs at 60 FPS at 1080p.

Upscaling or else we would be playing on 480i or something lol. It's just a stretched out image, "Upscaling".

6670 rofl, but for console it will do its job fine.
People need to understand that the xbox was never about top of the line gaming and visuals. It was always about affordable gaming and nothing does that better than consoles. It is also very power effeciant for its graphics power and its size.
