955 BE OC Help

Hello, I am new here, I have looked around and realized I know nothing biggrin.gif So i have come in search of someone to tell me if what I am doing is right / wrong.

I have a AMD 955 BE processor
CPU Frequency: 200
CPU Target Voltage: 1.471
CPU / NB Target Voltage: 1.378
DRAM Target Voltage: 1.53
CPU Ratio: 19.5
NB Multiplier: 12.0

( ~ means about)
This clocks at: ~3.9GHz
The HT Ref. Clock is: ~200 MHz
The NB Speed is: ~2410 MHz
AMD Overdrive reports that the max Voltage the CPU is hitting is ~1.43. So I assume I can lower it from 1.47 in the bios.

About 29C Idle, 47C Load (Ambient is ~19C)

I have 16GB DDR3 Ram, Dual Channel
The DRAM Frequency is: ~800

Does this look ok? Can it perform better? Should I lower it?

I have heard that this processor only supports ram up to 1333MHz so I just started guessing with numbers to get it to 1600MHz.

When I have the CPU Ratio to 20, the temps were still under 50C, but prime95 would spit out an error after ~30 minutes.

Also, main reason why I posted, I cannot seem to get my computer to BSOD with prime95, with any of the torture tests. But when I am just on my computer doing a lot of multi-tasking, I BSOD. So I think something is unstable. My thoughts is that it is with the ram. I have 16GB of it but when it gets to about 8GB of usage, suspect that is when it crashes. I haven't been able to catch it yet.

I posted all the information I could find aside from taking pictures of the bios. If you need anymore, I would be happy to post it.

From what I found, your NorthBridge Freq is to low for your DRAM Freq. That's what google searching told me where I was looking for a value for it. Also, I want to keep the temps < 50C (When on load) and have a fully stable system. I am getting bluescreen's ~Twice a week already.

I am looking for stability over performance right now. I am content with 3.9GHz right now.

Lol yeah, on AMD's website, they say do not go over 61C. I have the computer set to shutdown if it hits that. I am on air cooling which isn't great but it is better then nothing.

AND make all time your OC IN BIOS,,,, ****off all OC program,,U CRASH every time !!!!! Make your OC only in bios is very better 4 stability (your system start at 4G,,is not program push your CPU to 4G after windows startup))!!!!
Before ALL prime test..after each modification in bios......make 15 min AMD OverDrive test and look bouncing tread !! nice overall bouncing,,,,system look stable!!!! AFTER AMD OVD,,,,
make 30 min on OCCT and feel your computer(shut down master volume because when if u crash on OCCT,,u step all time by Dock noise !!! XD XD (watch quick restart or noise right befor shutdown,, is important you feel your computer all time you play in bios or whenever u make AMD or OCCT test !!!! ,,,,
after u feel good your computer and dont crash,, NOW u can start 24H of prime95 !!!! Enjoy my friend !!

You should work on your CPU OC before you start increasing CPU-NB. Set the NB multiplier back to 10, then work on getting your 20x stable. Use OCCT, it's a faster and more sensitive CPU test, then go to Prime Blend to test RAM. See what the max OC you can get stable without touching CPU-NB.

Once you have that done, play with CPU-NB frequency. IMO, it's not worth pumping alot of voltage for a high CPU-NB as it doesn't yeild much gains in gaming. Worth tweaking within reasonable voltage.

A good test for CPU-NB overclocking is Vantage CPU. Do a 3-run loop of just the CPU test, it's great at crashing unstable CPU-NB OCs.

PS: Are you overlocking with software or out of BIOS?
