Is there a How to setup SSD caching thread?

Thread Starter
I have an Asus Max Gene-z mobo and a patriot 32GB SSD (as well as an OS mechanical drive already setup). I'd like to setup SSD caching without reinstalling windows.

Does Asus have a trick or utility to do this? I'm aware gigabyte does and that's why I'm asking.

You might be able to install the RAID drivers and then change the controller mode to RAID and reboot. (I know this method works for switching to AHCI mode from IDE)

With the Z68 SATA controllers set to RAID (SRT won't work in AHCI or IDE modes) just install Windows 7 on your hard drive like you normally would. With Intel's RST 10.5 drivers and a spare SSD installed (from any manufacturer) you can choose to use up to 64GB of the SSD as a cache for all accesses to the hard drive. Any space above 64GB is left untouched for you to use as a separate drive letter.

I just tried SSD caching. Just removed it a few minutes ago. I wasn`t impressed. I am not sure but with my Sabertooth came AI suit II. In this program there is a option SSD caching. I just enabled that, it did some initialization and done. No reboot required.
Just worked right away. But anyway I will install my OS and some stuff on the SSD and be happier - with this caching you have no control what is stored on the SSD...
and I just found this, Sean Websters SSD caching guide:

Anyone have a link to the latest SRT drivers and z68 storage chipset drivers?

Yea. Can't wait to try this out when the drive gets here. I can finally have my OS and top 10 apps open and close quickly.

does your manual detail how to set it up? I knwo with many different Z68 boards i had some of teh manufacturers provided a separate SRT manual, if they don't check out another manufacturers site as teh steps should be the same.
