Wanted: Multiple 1TB or 2TB Drives

Wanted:
Multiple 1TB or 2TB Drives

Will Ship To: Anywhere

Am looking to replace my current HD setup. I currently have a WD Blue 640GB + Seagate Barracuda 1TB + External Fantom 2TB.

All of my data is spread everywhere, and it's a bit of a mess. I'm wanting to replace it all with either (6) 1TB drives or (3) 2TB drives.

I'm deathly afraid of hard drives crashing, and so far I've been lucky, but I'll need extra space to backup with (6TB = 3TB space + 3TB copied backup).

I'm looking to get the same type of hard drive, as I don't want to mix and match anymore.

Please PM if you have anything to offer.

I know that your looking for users to post - but if you check out newegg.com they have 2TB WD Caviar Greens which are amazing for storage drives as they run quiet and cool - they are $114 each, if you have shoprunner or if you want to try it out, you get 2 day free shipping smile.gif

Those are the newer editions (64mb cache) and what I have currently running in my NAS server.

Their failure rates kind of scare me. I know reviews are biased though.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about `failure rates`. In all my years and thousands of drives, I've only had ONE go bad. And it was a hand-me-down 30GB Seagate that I got from my father way back when.

Just go with a reputable company like Seagate or WD that are known to have good products and you should be fine. Now I can't say the same if you go for some 4th world sketchy brand that no ones ever heard of.

I'll look around to see if I have any extra's laying around ( which I may ). If so I'll sell you them for $50/ea, they'll most likely be 1TB if I do have any.

WD greens are amazing drives - all mine run quiet and cool, never had an issue with a single one

You don't like WD greens? I got one that i might no longer need next week. It is a 2TB and it's like 4 months old or so.

Honestly, I'd recommend just forking over the cash for some WD Caviar Blacks. I picked up 4x1.5TB this summer at $75/piece from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Caviar-Black-Desktop/dp/B004CSIFG2/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1327675372&sr=8-5). They come with a five year warranty and mine have not made so much as a hiccup for the 6 months I've been running them so far.

Unfortunately, they're about double that now. But mass storage isn't cheap now that e-tailers are marking up in what I think is a giant price-fixing scheme.

EDIT: Also Amazon packs the drives INCREDIBLY well, unlike newegg who just seems to throw them in there and then let UPS/FedEx/whoever give a few good powerthrows before they land on your front doorstep.
