Ok thanks,

Just wanted to make sure.

Another question I have is how far do I tighten the fittings? When it starts getting hard to turn it cuts the tube a little bit. I tightened it all the way and took it off and a bit of the rubber on the tube looked like it was been scraped off. Not even close to cutting through, is this all right?

Just tight enough so it feels secure. Over tightening can cause the tube to bend and eventually kink.
I generally use pliers to tighten the fitting but just enough so it's snug. As far as the cut on the tube, I'd
use your judgement. If it looks fine then leave it be and don't over tighten. Leak test will be your best bet
at this point.
