What do I do from here? Can I overclock my CPU further? Whenever I try and increase any higher than this on my CPU It fails somehow... And This is as high as my GPUs will clock to and stay fully stable (920MHz), before they get too hot and make something crash...I can set them GPUs to 960Mhz and play any game, (but I cannot run benchmark multiple times without it crashing at some point, temp goes up to 92*C on the top card....so I guess cooling is the limitation there.) I have tried increasing voltages a tiny bit too...

And here is my 3DMark 11 result running at these settings:
( P8013 3DMarks @ 920MHz ) http://3dmark.com/3dm11/2703047
vs.
(P8304 3DMarks @ 960MHz) http://3dmark.com/3dm11/2451339
I have also updated my gallery with pics of the cooling setup, you can click it in my sig if you want to look.

Well i'd take it 920MHz is the best your cards can do.. In reality i'd pull them back to 900MHz or so.

What CPU cooler do you have now? Also apparently there can be a "Bad" multiplier.. So try jumping to 46 or 47 with a higher voltage! thumb.gif

You could always set up a custom fan profile in Afterburner or Precision.

+1% / 1°C really keeps the temp down.

Adding the ultra kaze side fan gave me around 5-6*C drop on my top card, which was less drop than i was expecting..

I already have tried to setup custom profiles in MSI AB, tried setting the cards fans to 100% too, even with the ultra kaze side fan at 100% (tried exhaust & intake configurations - this doesn't make a difference to the GFX card temp btw - in my case), they still get a little too hot at 960Mhz. (around 90*C)

Guess I'll leave it on 915MHz for now unless I can figure ouT a way to get them down another 5-10*C

And what's your justification for not doing the heat spreader mod? Removing it completely, or sanding the IHS edges... or even going to Antec 620 cooling? Guaranteed either of these mods will solve your heat issue right away. Especially that Antec 620 mod....

Thanks for the replay Cakewalk_S,

I don't have any justification at all. At the moment I am just testing different things... I've seen the Antec 620 as a GPU Cooler mod and I have considered it. If I did go down this path, would I need to buy two of them?

Also, do you mind pointing me to the best tutorial link for the other mods you mentioned?

I have also been told that my cards are 'non-reference' cards and that there are no water blocks for liquid cooling available for my particular cards. Is the Antec 620 mod the only liquid cooling option available for my GPUs?

Thanks everyone for all your valuable advice.

- I'm using MSI afterburner with the 2500K @ 4.4GHz and the 560's @ 915MHz
- The GPU's have two big fans on each GFX card. The side case fan is blowing towards them.
- I cant tidy up the cabling much more, there are 6 hard drives in there. My PSU also NOT being modular is also a PITA.
- Full pics and specs can be clicked on in my sig.
My top graphics card runs 20*C hotter than the bottom, is that normal for SLI?
top card sits on around 75-80 degrees and bottom one around 55-60*C (testing with assassins creed revelations) 3DMark tests run around 5-10 degrees cooler. my CPU stays between 55-70*C, I have NOT increased voltages for these tests on my graphics card, if i do however turn speed to 960MHz which needs increase by 0.1v to become stable, the top card gets up to 90*C
I think It may have something to do with my fan setup. Maybe they are pointing in the wrong directions or something... I have also tried forcing the primary GPU to be the bottom card using MSI afterburner, this makes little to no difference. I have physically swapped the cards around too and still the top card gets the hottest...
I'd love to see what you guys thoughts are, thanks!

Hey man I have this sli setup, and the easy way to down the temo is to install nvidia control panel and set upt policy for temp, like this when you temp reach 74 grade you video card fan goes to 74 % then you will see for sure the tem going down from your main card. also with afterburn you have to turn off the auto fan setun and config manual and rise up the fan speed to 60 % and you will see that you main card will no reach 80 Grades and if you want to down it more set fan speed to 95 % and it will give you a nice 76 grade running @ full load, you will see that you pc is a bit loud.

also with nvidia control panel you can set any vidieo card frecuency and fan speed , afterburn is usesfull when you want to rise the vcore voltage,

thanks for the tip, I am aware that i can do this - as I said before, my GFX card fans are set to 100% in MSIAB already, so you must have something else that's helping them keep cool...

My top card got to 100*C when I played Assassin's Creed Revelations the other day @ 960MHz. Hotter than what 3DMark gets it to...all case fans were on 100%!

Your card is going to crap out on you pretty soon I'd imagine. The PCB can probably only withstand those temps for so long. Even that, the VRM's and VRAM's have to be getting just as hot so that's really not good. Heat will leak across the PCB from the core to all other components.
I would get instability problems when my card would go over 75C so I can't imagine your running your card at a 'safe' temperature. So whats your next step to try and solve this heat problem. Obviously 100C is not good...so...new GPU cooler? Antec 620? IHS removal?

I'm thinking he should bite the bullet and put on some new thermal paste.. I can only get 90c on my 6850/6870 crossfire when the 6870 is overclocked to 970MHz with 1.3V (on a very hot day). I need to have them both maxed, and the stock HAF 932 sidefan.. There is seriously something wrong with your cards now that i think about my situation. I know they aren't the same, but one would think they'd output similar heat output. Even if they put out that much more that's pretty bad on nVidia's behalf..
