$500 gaming build for a friend

Thread Starter
Hello everyone, and it's another one of those threads!

So my friend needs to upgrade his pc, so he decided to just leave that one and build a completely new pc and he asked me If I could put it together for him, he wants it to be a gaming rig,

His max budget is $500 and he'd like to overclock his CPU, no monitor, hard drive, os or peripherals.

Pretty much I want to build around this mobo and CPU, but I'm not sure what to go for next without passing the budget.

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131767
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103995

What would you guys put in this pc?

Thanks for all the feedback I really appreciate it biggrin.gif

What exactly is he re-using? You said no peripherals, but is the PSU, Case, HDD...etc still good? If you have 500 to spend on a new system, that's entirely different than a $500 UPGRADE. See what I"m saying?

500 dollars is gonna be extremely hard to do, especially with hard drive prices where theyre at right now. About the only way it might happen is through used parts.

Check out my FS thread, it'd be a pretty good base build for him. Just throw a modern GPU in there and maybe more ram if he needs it and you'll be golden. It can keep up with most of the systems of today!
