Llano A8
ASRock A75M FM1 AMD A75
WD 1TB hardrive
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB
Windows 7
APEX DM-387 Case with PSU

Advantages of A8 over A6? Thoughts? Going in the living room hooked up to a 55''TV.

The A6 has more than enough power to play your media. If you are only playing back media I really don't see a reason to get the A8. If there is any chance you will be doing any video editing or gaming then you'll see a benefit from the a8 over the a6.

you can never go wrong with a Llano APU for a htpc. great build
post #4 of 15
Even A4 dual core APU is all you need for your needs. Media player doesn't require a lot of CPU usage. You aren't doing much but just playing media files. As long as your APU/mobo supports HDMI you are good to go.

Are you streaming movies form another computer or will you want to store everything on the HTPC itself?

Putting a 60 GB SSD instead of an HDD would be a nice upgrade if you can set up streaming movies from another computer that you have downloaded. Also don't forget a $20 remote biggrin.gif

if you're gonna get an A8 then I suggest get an xbox 360 controller with wireless receiver instead. would work great as a remote and obviously a gaming pad for gaming

Not going to be used for gaming, also I dont want a mouse therefore I'm looking at the Logitech diNovo keyboard. I'll probably end up going with the A6 over the A8, $40 price difference anyways.
