Possible to add another 8GB(2x4GB) to my system?

This might probably be a silly question but is it possible to add another 8GB(2x4GB) to my system? Or would I have had to buy a 16GB kit initially? Just a little confused.

http://ncix.ca/products/?sku=61213&vpn=F3%2D17000CL11D%2D8GBXL&manufacture=G%2ESkill

Thats the ram I'm using currently. I have a couple hundred bucks laying around and I thought some more Ram would be nice.

Thanks rolleyes.gif

i don't think so, doesn't your board only have 4 RAM slots? in which case you would need to buy the 16GB kit. Any reason you want to go from 8 to 16 GB of RAM?

herp-derp, read it as 4x2GB instead of 2x4GB. Yeah, your board can support it and you can grab up another set of 2x4GB sticks. Just make sure the timings are the same, different RAM timings can make overclocking a pain in the neck...

Definitely, you are able to do it.

You got 2 open dimm slots at the moment right? If so then buy those suckers.

Yes you can add 8 more without buying a 16gb kit. I would personally buy the same set that you already have though to reduce the likelihood of a problem.

Thanks guys. Yea I got 2 slots opened. I know it might not make a big difference (or maybe it will) but I think they'll add some style points to my machine. Thanks for the help, ordering them now thumb.gif +rep
