E8400, OC Issues.. Unstable, or False Negative?

Been having an issue. I ran Prime95 Blend just as a precaution yesterday, and hit a fatal error at around the 5 hours 30 minute mark
[Tue Jan 24 17:56:39 2012]
Self-test 2304K passed!
Self-test 2304K passed!
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4

Was running e8400 at 3.6 Ghz 400 FSB 1.16 vcore

DDR2 @ 1066 2.1v (Rated values)

Northbridge 1.10

I increased the Vcore on my Processor to 1.20 from 1.16

Left RAM alone

Bumped Northbridge to 1.16

I then ran Intel Burn Test for 20 tests, and came back stable, no errors.

I ran HCI Memtest to 1000%, No Errors.

Finally, Ran Prime 95 again, Large FFTs, similar error occurred

Occurred 5 hrs, 33 Minutes into the test.

[Wed Jan 25 10:26:24 2012]
Self-test 768K passed!
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4

Now, my system has been stable, or so I thought, for the past two weeks. I recently started having a few blue screens, which I assumed to be at the fault of buggy Logitech Drivers/PS3 Motioninjoy, since which I have uninstalled and have not had a crash since.

It also seems fishy to me that the error occured at around the same time frame, on two different tests..

Any advice on what I should do? Maybe give OCCT a go and ignore this Prime95 error? Thanks!

So you didn't always have blue screens with your logitech software installed?

It sounds like a stability issue. Really close timing on crashes is common in prime.

The Logitech software and drivers are known to cause issues.

Do you have any suggestions on what I should possibly be tweaking? My instincts tell me that the processor is probably not the culprit. I have a feeling it's either got to do with my RAM or my Northbridge.. need someone with experience with wolfdales to point me in the right direction

I don't have experience with those chips. Have you tried it with the CPU at stock, while keeping your NB/ram/etc overclock as before (if that's possible on your chip)?

I have, a long time ago. it would either be very unstable causing errors in memtest86+ to go crazy, or it would be very sluggish. I think it was either due to the FSB Ratio or the memory timings, back then I just built the computer (08) and didn't know too much about how overclocking worked. I can give it another shot though.

I think your board may be dying, from the way you describe it.....

Board is fine, I have no reason to believe that there's anything wrong with it. Everything runs fine at stock as well with everything on Auto, been Prime stable for the past 8 hours now, and still going. I just did a visual inspection of it a week ago as well when I was cleaning out my case, and its operation hasn't changed since.

There's obviously something wrong with my overclock, and I'm pretty sure I'm underestimating voltages; I just don't know where.

coming from a core2quad, the same principles applied to me as they do you now. My guess would be tick the northbridge up a notch, and give the ram volts a slight boost as well, see how you look after that.

Also try running your memory at 1:1 with the fsb, or just stick it at 800 and then run your prime again. If it doesn't fail you'll know its ram.

bumped up VCore to 1.20 and 1.22, Still got the same error, yet again. Only this time it's been 2hours into the test, both times. FSB at 400, NB Voltage at auto, RAM at 1.8 volts and 800 mhz. VID is 1.18.

I've bumped up the Vcore each time Prime95 blend fails, and again it seems to fail very close to the same amount of time: 2 hours in.

And Again, both times:
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4

Running Prime with Vcore set at 1.25. If anyone else has any other ideas please let me know, because it seems like the more voltage I give, the more unstable it gets, yet the temperatures are all fine. So I have a feeling I'm missing something here. Next thing I want to touch is the Northbridge Voltage, but I'm not sure of the "safe" range for the chipset.

It's the P45 Chipset on a P5Q Pro Board, if that helps anyone
