Are people honestly going to stop using google/gmail/youtube because of this? I highly doubt it.

Preventing your browser from keeping history and cookies outside of your session doesn't prevent tracking. The only privacy benefits from Private Browsing are if other people have physical access to your computer. Google does not have physical access to your computer, and therefore does not care if you use private browsing (nor does any other service that does tracking apart from using cookies).

You can't opt out of Google Analytics tracking. You have to forcibly prevent it working with browser addons or by disabling JavaScript.

On topic: I don't see what the deal is here. Google has been slowly converging their services for a long time. Remember when Youtube had a separate login? Now it's all Google Account stuff. In fact the only reason I have a Google Account is because I had a Youtube account that was converted to one.

To the majority of people posting in this thread stating that there is nothing to fear, I thank you for taking atleast 2 seconds to use your brain before typing.

Whats even more childish is there have been many presidents that have actually used the term "new world order".
What it means is the debatable part.
We should probably question anyone using such terms.

FYI

I dont have a problem with google having my information, i just have a problem with who they share it with.

They do have a bad record on this part

why not use the option to clear browsing history when you close FF or use Private browsing ? I only use Gmail for BS / forums I don't want to have my 4 private e-mails for.

I don't quite get how as a society we thing data collection is a bad thing....
