There's a reason why no one can answer this: because the blind Apple hate is completely irrational.

I never said anything about Windows. Darwin is based off a certain BSD version of UNIX that you are aware of.

There is nothing inherently special about Macs that make them advantageous over a comparable PC in music creation, web design, rendering, CAD, video editing, or photo editing.

yep. There's no excuse for being 'technologically retarded' in this day and age except for sheer and utter ignorance. Based on that, one could say the worth of the human race is inversely proportional to the worth of the Apple brand.

False. The apple logo certifies it's authenticity as advanced alien technology, far more advanced than a non-mac device could ever be in this century.

This just in, you don't have to pay double for a Mac to use UNIX, it'll run on a PC. So once again, there is no advantage to using a Mac. And about 95% of people would disagree that UNIX is better than Windows, but this is about OSX, which is a whole different story.

OSX is unix.

UNIX 03 - the mark for systems conforming to version 3 of the SUS (full compliance)

OSX is not UNIX, UNIX is UNIX. That's like saying Windows 95 was DOS. They're OSes that extend other OSes, comparing UNIX to Windows 7 is not the same as comparing OSX to Windows 7. Besides, even OSX isn't pure UNIX, it is a modified FreeBSD that is UNIX compliant.

Genius Programmer, the standards based group who unquestionably owns the trademark for UNIX says OS X is unix.

http://www.unix.org/what_is_unix.html

"Since the introduction of the Single UNIX Specification, there has been a single, open, consensus specification that defines the requirements for a conformant UNIX system."

But feel free to argue.
