From my point of view why wouldn't i download stuff from places like cydia, if i don't it would be ruining the hard work hackers took to make it downloadable.

OP I would recommend not using installous because they have illegal stuff on there and it's considered piracy frown.gif Cydia will be completely legal though smile.gif
I jailbroke my ipod for almost 3 years straight and 4 different ipods. I even jailbroke an ipod over facebook chat lol. I just wanted to play with the hardware that I rightfully bought and had my fun with it without using illegal stuff.
I agree that it is getting harder and apple has gotten a ton better at making it difficult to create legal jailbreaks but till that time I want to play around with the gui and hardware to have some fun. smile.gif that's my prerogative though.
OP I would recommend reading a little more about installous and Cydia on wikipedia or other good jailbreak sites just to make sure you are legal with everything. smile.gif Just watchin your back for ya. thumb.gif

how is it ruining the work of blackhat hackers? jailbreak was meant to remove limitations that apple put in place, not to pirate every paid app in the app store. sadly, for some it is all about piracy. it's $2, if you don't want to pay that price for something that will provide hours of fun, get a life and a job.

OP: apps are worth the money, don't listen to this guy.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with installous, but it is there solely for pirating apps, it serves no other purpose. If I was that against jailbreaking why would I have recommended that big list of apps? Why would you recommend he read about installous?

your mentality is pathetic. the creator of the app charges a price for what they created. that's like saying people who made lock picks work would be rendered useless unless you picked locks to steal from a shop.

op: pm me if you have any questions about cool apps biggrin.gif

It would be since their work wouldn't be used. Name an invention that has been deemed useful but used by anybody.

Then they aren't losing any money, they're just supplying a self righteous prick with software he doesn't deserve.

lockpicking is a talent/skill and many people practice it. it can be used for things other than theft. like i said, your mentality is pathetic. you're trying to say if you're not using it for bad it's not being used at all? please, go read a book or something.

OP: What iDevice do you have?

It's not there for solely pirating apps because apple would have gone straight to their doorstep and shut them down the same way Sony did with GeoHotz PS3 jailbreak. Look him up if you want to learn more but he didn't do it for the sake of pirating everything, but instead he did it to use the graphics card to use Ubuntu and xbmc on it. He was fined a ton of money and never allowed back on PSN or to buy a ps3 the last time I knew which is a very sad thing to see for a great programmer as he is.

OP I would look into the apps that you download and make sure you have all the legal ones or at least have credit where credit is due. smile.gif my favorite from Cydia was the 5x5 icon springboard with winterboard and SBS settings so I could do whatever I wanted with that thing smile.gif It's been almost 3 years since I've owned an apple product and I always had fun putting together new themes and ssh'ing into my ipod from the computer downstairs to load new stuff on.
