Audio when playing ps3 ona monitor

Hey everyone, how's it going?

today I tried hooking up a ps3 to a monitor (why not just use a tv? because this monitor is the only hd display in my house)

and everything works fine, but I'd like to know if there was anyway to hear the game sounds while it's hooked up, no the monitor does not have speakers and i is connected via an hdmi cable.

So is there anything I can do right now? ( I have some headphones but they use a 3.5mm connection not usb.)

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Is there than a 3.5mm audio plug out of your monitor? Mine has one that spits out the audio when you plug in an HDMI with sound over it, that's how I play with my 360 plugged into my monitor.

One thing you can try is to plug in both hdmi out (for video) and your analog video/audio out (for audio), then use an RCA to 3.5mm converter.

Something like this:

The only thing I could find is female RCA to male 3.5mm, so you'll also need a female-to-female 3.5mm adapter to plug in your headphones or PC speakers:

Use the first link jetpak12 posted, and plug it into your computers audio in jack (usually light blue). That way as long as your computer is on, the audio will go into the in jack and out the out jack to your computer speakers. It's how mine is set up with my PS3/iPod dock.

Or if you have money to spend, a little 5.1 home theater system would work with the spdif.

Two options:
1. Find something with an Optical SPDIF connection
2. Find something with an HDMI throughput for sound

A home theater system is the ultimate solution.

You could get a premium Triton or TurtleBeach headset, too. These will have an Optical SPDIF converter with them.
