Silverstone Raven RV02 or Cooler Master Storm Trooper?

Thread Starter
I am looking to replace my Sentey Arvina case, seeing as this thing is an utter piece of crap. I have two cases that have my attention, and they are the two stated in the title of this post.

Keep in mind that I am looking to add water cooling for my CPU. I do not have it yet.

Silverstone Raven RV02

Pros:

  • Side window
  • Unique sideways motherboard mounting
  • Large fans on bottom, room for radiator
  • Looks badass

Cons:

  • I have a 6970, and due to the sideways mounted motherboard, I don't have room for a triple radiator at the bottom.
  • I go to a monthly LAN party, and this case isn't as easy to move as the Storm Trooper, obviously.

Cooler Master Storm Trooper

Pros:

  • Top handle makes it easy to go to LAN parties
  • Room for a triple radiator up top
  • Solid built
  • Good cable management

Cons:

  • No side window
  • Not as interesting as the Silverstone (big deal at LAN parties)
  • Red fans (yes, I know I can change them. I just hate red fans)
  • Not as much room as the Silverstone

So, which should I get?

Con: if you insist on going liquid for aesthetic reasons, then don't use RV02.

Pro: the RV02 has enough cooling so that the only reason to go liquid is for aesthetic reasons:D

PS. have you considered the additional weight you are adding with a liquid system? you really want to lug that weight around for LAN party?biggrin.gif

Just pick whichever one you think looks better. Both will have negligible temperature differences based on air flow.

This.

I say, if you're going to LAN parties get something with some sturdy handles or an easy way to carry. Like the Cosmos/ Cosmos II, which have steel bars that you can carry it with, very sturdy and makes for easy handling. Or a case specifically for LAN parties.

Yes, but the main frame and the bars that serve as feet on top/bottom are all steel. ( friend has one down the road from me, they're sturdy, I can say that much )

I LOVE my Raven, I carry it to my LAN parties without an issue, and the cooling is superb. I did a build with for a buddy recently that used the Trooper, it's a good case as well but the cable management isn't as great and there's less room than the Raven. So my vote would defintely go for my baby.

dude a cosmos2 will weight about 100 pounds fully loaded with liquid cooling:D you don't want to lug something THAT big around to lan parties:D

I own the Raven 02-E White ... and I must admit ... it is an eye catcher ... most people are used to the standard array of cases ... the raven always sticks out ... and it is the second best if not the best air cooling case on the market ((personal opinion)) ...

Bare in mind that it isn't a small case though ...

If you curious what a build looks like ... click here

Pros :: Great Eye Catcher and can be modded with a bit of creativity ... Large case and great air cooling ...

Cons :: Large ... Water cooling is possible but won't be a breeze with larger GFX cards.
