I have the same board and an i7 2600k and not going to lie to you it takes a good deal of force to lock it into place. I don't know if mine has left marks like that though because there's only one way to seat the CPU in the 1155 socket before putting that cover down and securing it. I don't what to tell you looking at those pictures because I'm not sure what's digging into the sides of the heatshield like that. I'd say at this point as long as you just make sure it's seated right, close the lid and commit to locking it down becasue it's supposed to be a tight fit.

My picture looks correct right? I mean I've done this once before, but I remember it locking in easier than this lol.

It's the metal bulges on the inside of the casing that I circled in the first picture. That's what is digging into the processor.

I'd say the metal pieces scratching the CPU are deformed, but if both do it... I'm no longer sure.

I would clamp it down. The socket will get messed up before the chip.

Good job! I think everyone told you it would go as long as your nerves didn't give out. What kind of cooler are you using stock or aftermarket? Another thing I can 'warn' you about is the board can reset itself on the initial boot, it'll still come up to the bios once it's figured out what's connected to it though. Mine also did this when I turned the XMP on for my RAM.
