Well guys I put it all together and on first boot I was unable to post and the Boot_device_led was on so I took it down, reset the jumper, moved the SATA cable to a different port and tried again. This time it boots but I receive a CPU Fan Error. After that the computer begins to load Windows 7. It shows the loading screen and then right when it's about to go to the desktop the computer restarts. Here are some screenshots from my BIOs:

450

450

It's a little blurry but the CPU Fan says 583RPM and the PWR_FAN 1 says 2242RPM. I also have another fan in the case, but for some reason it's not reading it. My CPU Cooler is a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what my exact CPU fan speed is at boot though but it's relatively low. Your temps look fine too being at 24c idle. Are you doing a clean install of Windows 7 or using an existing HDD? I would recommend a clean install with a new system because Windows 7 tends to build a profile of your system which may explain the restart too. I'll check what my CPU fans read tonight, I know it's lower RPM but don't remember the bar being red like that. I have the same cooler with push/pull fans in both CPU fan headers.

Yeah I think a fresh install will solve my boot problem so I'll be doing that tonight. Would've done it last night, but I forgot my dvd drive only has IDE lol so I just went and bought a sata drive. My main concern is the CPU Fan. I looked up the Hyper 212 specs and it looks like it runs between 600-2000rpm. I went into BIOs and lowered the CPU Fan speed Warning from 600 to 500 so that I will no longer receive the message. I just want to be sure the fan is speeding up past 600 once I get into the OS. Does CPU-Z display fan speeds?

cpu-z no, but hwmonitor and speedfan do.

I did the exact same thing as it never occured to me to check my optical drive for a SATA port. Just checked my fans my CPU_FAN is doing 655-667RPM and my CPU_FAN1 is doing 755-770RPM right now. The ASUS disk that comes with it has drivers and software that can show your fan speeds under the hardware monitor. I also needed the Intel NIC driver before I could get the system on my network and Internet.

Well I booted it up when I got home from work and the DVD drive worked fine, but all of a sudden I couldn't get into BIOs. Took everything out of the case and set up a test bench and still couldn't get into BIOs. Called up ASUS support and was told I'm gonna have to RMA the board. Looks like another week til I'll get this build running =(

i have a asus p8p67 pro with i5 2500k.
it took a lot of pressure to close the clamp. it also left two little dents in the cpu. but i think thats normal since ive noticed many people have the little dents. however, mine dont seem to be as dented as much as in those pictures

K the motherboard has been sent back and now I just play the waiting game. One more noob question though when I put everything back together will it be necessary for me to clean off the thermal paste from the processor and CPU Cooler? I mean I know with used parts you do, but these things have barely been used and the thermal paste still looks moist and fresh. Any suggestions?
To be safe, I'd probably clean off the old paste and apply some new goo, this is just as much to avoid an abundance of possible air bubbles in the paste when mounted again. But if you keep the CPU and cooler in relatively air-tight bags, the hardening - or rather drying up of the thermal paste should be kept at a minimal. According to my perception of moist substances at least.

Okay, I'll definitely clean off the CPU Cooler I was just hoping to avoid messing with the CPU as much as possible. I've got it in an air tight bag so hopefully it'll stay fresh, but if not I'll try to man up and clean it as best as possible. Thanks.
