I would definitely apply new thermal paste.

Was checking to see if this got resolved, too bad you had to RMA the board. As far as TIM goes you will want to clean it off using isopropyl alcohol 91% works best, 70% works okay, worst case you can use vodka but it'll leave a film. It's never a good idea to reuse it beucase of the potential for air bubbles and you don't want that so don't risk it.

700

Howdy ya'll. So the RMA went smoothly and I got the build up and running! Yay! My only concern now is the fan issue I was talking about earlier. Here are my temps/fan speeds according to CPUID. I have a Hyper212 Plus CPU Cooler which is supposed to run from 600-2000rpms but it seems like mine is stuck around 600. Is this normal behavior or is something wrong? I already triple checked and the CPU Fan is plugged in right where it says CPU Fan on the mobo so I'm not screwing that up. Any ideas?

itll run that till the cpu temp hits the settings for the fan to step up to the next range put it uder a good load and see if the chip temps go up high enough to bump the fan speed up

Okay I'll load up a benchmark right now and see what happens. But all those temperatures look okay right? I don't wanna burn this thing out lol.

Temps actually look fine to me But I'm not a intel person. I just know the cooling profiles are about the same so it should do like my system and ramp the fan speed up in stages.

it won't be any higher until it needs moar air smile.gif like vedaire said just make it a bit hotter and ull see the fan speed rising smile.gif

Well I put it under some stress and the fan speed increased from around 600 to over 900 so I know it's working, but is there really any advantage to that? I can handle noise so shouldn't I set it to a constant 1500-2000rpm to insure good cpu temps?

you can if you like but its actually a power saving thing and sometimes quiet is nice lol but its just personal choice really
