Well simply put, go look at a piece of electronics in your house or in your possession. Does it say "manufactured", "assembled", "fabricated", or otherwise "made" in China? If it does, then chances are the workers have suffered the same kind of horrible conditions the workers at Foxconn or other Apple manufacturing plants suffer.

If you buy Chinese made products you're part of the problem.

Let's take some not-so-awesome things and market it 9000x better with a price tag 30x higher than what it costs just so that we can show the world how good our stuff is.

lolwut?? I'm not a huge fan of Apple either, but apparently you haven't ever used an Apple product if you can make a blanket statement that Apple's products suck. Like it or not they completely revolutionized the smartphone world, and their products have always had the same basic characteristic: They work, and they work well. Apple has done an amazing job syncing all their products together allowing them to communicate across a variety of platforms that no other company has been able to accomplish. Sure their OS and devices aren't quite as flexible and customizable as something such as Android or pure forms of Linux. But if you're basing your "not so awesome things" simply because the product isn't as customizable as what you THINK it should be, there's no hope for you. When you can create a company as successful as Apple or Microsoft or Intel, then your opinion will be relevant. But as of right now, with your "aww i can't afford an expensive Apple product so I'm going to just blanket stereotype all their products and say they're not so awesome and way overpriced" attitude, your opinions are null.

Right, because NO ONE else uses outsourcing to produce their products. Because NO ONE else charges a lot of money for their products. Because every product Apple releases doesn't work, it's just a really expensive shiny paperweight. Oh wait, that's right, their products DO work, other companies charge just as much, and almost every other company uses overseas labor. I fail to see how Apple is a terrible company, unless you're just jealous because you can't afford them or didn't buy stock in them awhile ago, or you just like to jump on the anti-Apple fanboy wagon. Good rational argument you have there though...thumb.gif

These people are so terribly treated and yet the Foxconn jobs are the most sought after jobs in China. They could hire 3000 people per day if they needed to according to the number of applications they get. Some people need to quit their hand-ringing and realize that this is just how you get stuff made these days...

Point of the article is that Apple has the power to force the suppliers to provide better working conditions or pay but chooses not to do so in order to pursue record breaking profits. It is also appropriate to center the article on Apple and not other tech companies because Apple just announced record breaking profits. Also if you read the entire article, BSA stated that certain companies like H.P. does not keep the supplier profit margin so low that they have to create a worse work environment in order to turn a profit for the Apple contract.
